Cool article, but San Tee, Hung Hsi Kwan, Fang Sai Yuk and Pei Mei are all based on a Ching dynasty novel. And the shaolin guys were the bad guys!! What do you expect when the Manchu's were running things?Eventually the stories were adopted, like any countries folklore, in some instances gang members wanted a tie to something more majestic then beating and extorting shop keepers, so there were claims that they learned a style from patriotic rebels, etc.
