Who knows what condition it is in by now, and he just ignores me. It seems like some collectors are on a power trip, but when they drop dead in old age, half that stuff will be thrown out. To what purpose? That's ultra-rare, wow. Yea there is no point if the world cant see it. Maybe some people make claims but really don't have it? I happen to collect vintage photography and film cameras and I've picked up some gems from estate cleanups. Sharing is caring, I buy allot of BD, and DVD's and triad with a good friend and his collection of horror films. Another childhood friend of mine cant really afford to build the collections some of us have, for his birthday I mailed over a dozen MA films on DVD he most likely couldn't get his hands on... unless he goes on you-tube or something. These films need to see the light of day.
Member NoKUNGFUforYU Posted February 13, 2018 Member Share Posted February 13, 2018 Exactly, I know a guy that has an enormous collection, and he's just out of college or grad school. There are young people that dig these films. Need to make sure they are around.

From my experience of fandoms, there are two kinds of collector, those that hoard, and those that share. Maybe some of them do get a kick out of owning a rare films that few others do?. I feel sorry for them if that is the case. Like you said, you cannot take your collection to the grave. With some stuff just getting thrown away, when people pass on. It would be much cooler to share your stuff, with the next generation of fans/collectors. On 13/02/2018 at 4:24 AM, NoKUNGFUforYU said: There are young people that dig these films. Member NoKUNGFUforYU Posted February 13, 2018 Member Share Posted February 13, 2018 You can imagine some apartment dweller, buried in Kung Fu movies and posters, dropping dead, a sort of movie buff/hermit. His distant relative comes in to be executor and puts the stuff on ebay, no description, or, in a hurry, just throws it out. "Crazy old Uncle Toby, no one watches DVD's or VHS! And what's this shit? Cold Blade? What's a betamax!!? Oh well, let me look up where the free toxic waste is."

On a more serious note, this must happen with some collectors, what-ever it is you collect. People pass away, and their family dont care about their possessions, and just toss them out. There are still many Martial Arts movie I've yet to see. Guess I've not reached the point where only the really rare & unseen stuff appeals to me. Still love to see some of those old Cathay titles, I keep hearing about here, get a legit release.
Member ShawAngela Posted February 14, 2018 Member Share Posted February 14, 2018 Thanks to the recent Hoker releases, I had the luck to watch some Cathay movies that hadn't previously been released by Panorama, sadly without any English subtitles and not enough martial arts movies, but at least, a company made the effort to release some good titles. It seems that Hoker is now focused on releasing Shaws' movies and has stopped releasing Cathay's movies...That's sadness and happiness at the same time...

Member teako170 Posted February 25, 2018 Member Share Posted February 25, 2018 Some years back, I compiled a list of "rares" from posts here at KFF, FLK, and elsewhere. Some of the film's on the list have since come out. Titles such as: A Massacre Survivor, Deadly Fists of Kung Fu, Roar in the Woods, Story of 36 Killers, The Black Justice, The Decisive Battle, and The Fierce Fist. Member AgriWuxia Posted February 25, 2018 Member Share Posted February 25, 2018 Trapeze Girl (1967) has been available as a remastered custom dvd on the FarEastFlix website for some time now. As I understand, the films on this site are not officially sanctioned, and are dvd-r. Still, it may be the only version available for those who would like a copy. Much as I would like to see this film, my personal preference is to continue purchasing officially licensed titles as funds permit.

Member ShawAngela Posted February 25, 2018 Member Share Posted February 25, 2018 I forgot to mention Insanity being, thanks to NoKungFuForYou's efforts ! Maybe I'm mistaken,, but it seems to me that I saw some titles available as tv records on a Chinese site : Chivalrous killer The twist (or I saw it on a list from Jamal or BigRogie, I don't remember) Shattering the immortals' array Demons in the flame mountain Hong Kong connection The system (not totally sure) And I made a big mistake : I mistook Eight beauties with Eight roaming heroines. So, Eight beauties is still to be found...
