Member whitesnake Posted February 18, 2018 Member Share Posted February 18, 2018 Inuyashiki is a new Japanese live action movie based on the sci-fi manga by Hiroya Oku. The director is Shinsuke Sato (Bleach live action movie, Gantz, Princess Blade). Ichiro Inuyashiki is a middle-aged salaryman with no friends and unappreciated by his family. His doctor tells him he has cancer with only three months to live. While walking his dog in a park, he and a nearby high school student are killed in an explosion caused by an alien crash landing. The aliens restore both to life, in powerful cyborg bodies but looking as they did before. Ichiro "quickly realizes the extent of his body's powers, and after saving a homeless man being beaten by a pack of teenagers, he decides to dedicate himself to doing good, using his powers to heal those with incurable diseases and fight crime." The teen, Hiro Shishigami, has the same powers but "becomes a psychopath who goes about using his new found abilities to murder people... just for amusement." Hiro is played by Takeru Satoh, who played Kenshin Himura in the Rurouni Kenshin trilogy. (The movie sounds something like a cross between Ikiru and ZebraMan.) Inuyashiki was also turned into an 11-episode anime series that recently ran on Japanese TV. The movie opens in Japan on April 20, 2018. It has already won the "Golden Raven award at [the] Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival" (April 2018).
