Upcoming HBO Asia TV series Folklore

The Cinema Escapist website has an interview with Indonesian director Joko Anwar, who is working on a new horror anthology series, Folklore, for HBO Asia.  "Folklore is a six-episode hour-long horror anthology series that takes place across multiple Asian countries including Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.  Each episode will be based on each country's deeply-rooted superstitions and myths.  Helmed by different directors from various countries in Asia, each episode will seek to modernize or update Asian horror, exploring societal dysfunctions in a manner that is specific to  the country but possessing themes that will resonate across the continent.  I will be directing the episode based on Indonesia"  The interview is here - https://www.cinemaescapist.com/2018/01/interview-indonesian-director-joko-anwar/

Joko Anwar directed the first season of Halfworlds for HBO Asia.  "Halfworlds is a dark fantasy thriller television series produced and created by HBO Asia.  Set in a present-day Asia, the series reveals an underground society populated by demons from Asian folklore."  The first season premiered on November 29, 2015.  The second season started on January 22, 2017.  Each series consists of 8 episodes.  HBO Asia is not available in the U.S. but Halfworlds recently began streaming at HBO.  More info and series review here - https://asianmoviepulse.com/2017/12/halfworlds-joko-anwar-streaming-hbo/  The Joko Anwar interview included interesting descriptions of some popular Indonesia ghosts and demons, some appearing in Halfworlds.  Youtube - Halfworlds (A Shudder Exclusive) - Trailer at -
