The Japanese video game Detective Pikachu, which reimagines the Pokemon icon as a Sherlock Holmes-style detective, is getting a Hollywood film adaptation. Take the director of Goosebumps, the co-writer of Guardians of the Galaxy doing the script, and Deadpool in the titular role and that's exactly what you're getting.

Yes, Ryan Reynolds is going from Deadpool to playing Detective Pikachu. He will be doing both motion capture and voice work to play the character, who will help a young man (Justice Smith) rescue his kidnapped father. Kathryn Newton co-stars as a journalist who helps the duo on their quest.

Here's the trailer for the original video game, which gives Pikachu a more masculine voice

I thought this looked pretty lackluster at first, but given how bad this new Sonic the Hedgehog movie looks makes this actually look decent. Strange concept for a movie. Would of preffered if both stayed Japanese for their movies.

The film gave Avengers: Endgame a run for its money this past weekend. While the Marvel heroes are still the current champions with another $63.2 million this past weekend, Detective Pikachu actually made $54.3 million at the box office this weekend. it currently holds a 64% rating on Rotten Tomatoes

Those box office results are amazing. Im going to have to skip this one after hearing how mediocore it was.

This is probably fake, but still funny. Pokemon meets Clockwork Orange!
