Member The Green Ruffian Posted November 3, 2017 Member Share Posted November 3, 2017 I don't normally create topics, but I just finished watching KFI and thought it was excellent. Interesting direction from Sun Chung, nice choreo from Tong Gaai, good performances from everyone and a light touch with the comedy. I think it might even break into my top 20 Shaw Brothers films. Sun Chung really was one of the best directors for SB. I think I'd only place him behind Lau Kar Leung. Thoughts?
Member TibetanWhiteCrane Posted November 3, 2017 Member Share Posted November 3, 2017 It's a fine film, probably one of Sun Chung's best..... even with Wong Yue in the lead (co-lead).
Member The Green Ruffian Posted November 6, 2017 Author Member Share Posted November 6, 2017 I've never had a problem with Wong Yu, and in this film he's quite restrained. On a side-note, KFI is one of the better quality HD Shaws.
Member TibetanWhiteCrane Posted November 6, 2017 Member Share Posted November 6, 2017 I don't hate the guy, I just think he's a weak lead for the most part. Add insipid comedy to that, and it's a bit of a chore for me, personally, to sit through his starring vehicles. Solid screen fighter though. Member Cognoscente Posted May 18, 2021 Member Share Posted May 18, 2021 Wong Yue would have done rather well in a Three Stooges Kung Fu movie with Hon Kwok-Choi and Dean Shek. 3
