Member AlbertV Posted October 3, 2017 Member Share Posted October 3, 2017 Samuel L. Jackson's take on the iconic Shaft is getting a sequel, courtesy of New Line Cinema and Netflix. In the new film, Shaft learns he has a son who is an FBI agent and cyber expert, and they must work together, despite the fact they are estranged. Jessie T. Usher plays the son while Richard Roundtree is set to make an appearance as the original Shaft (Jackson's Shaft is the nephew of Roundtree's original John Shaft). Netflix is putting up half the budget for the new film and will release it exclusively. Kenya Barris wrote the script with Tim Story directing. Shooting begins in December. http://www.darkhorizons.com/netflix-to-globally-release-the-new-shaft/

Member SamSeed Posted March 4, 2018 Member Share Posted March 4, 2018 Wow, Sam Jackson has actually been out-cooled! Richard Roundtree looking badass, this is going to be so good! (By which I mean it'll probably be laughably bad but in the best, most watchable way)

Member whitesnake Posted February 10, 2019 Member Share Posted February 10, 2019 Plot of Shaft (2019) film as described by New Line Cinema - "JJ, aka John Shaft Jr. (Usher), may be a cybersecurity expert with a degree from MIT, but to uncover the truth behind his best friend's untimely death, he needs an education only his dad can provide. Absent throughout JJ's youth, the legendary locked-and-loaded John Shaft (Jackson) agrees to help his progeny navigate Harlem's heroin-infested underbelly. And while JJ's own FBI analyst's badge may clash with his dad's trademark leather duster, there's no denying family. Besides, Shaft's got an agenda of his own, and a score to settle that's professional and personal."
