Last Friday, the Bruce Lee social media accounts posted a photo of Bruce, with the caption "That Friday feeling". Of course they cropped out Nora Miao and Maria Yi in the process.

That shirt probably was a very successful panty dropper.

Shannon Lee, throwing shade at Seattle & the Bay Area...

"I am glad to see my father's statue installed in the permanent home in Chinatown 45 years after his passing. Although he was born in San Francisco, my father had a deeper connection with Los Angeles Chinatown."

Imagine the good that could be done if the estate acknowledged Bruce Lee probably had an eating disorder in his later life. It will never happen because it goes against the image they have played up for forever.

The infamous or famous, depending on your perspective, "be water" quote is attributed to Bruce Lee, did Sillliphant have anything to with that?

"The estate now generates $2 million a year, Ms. Lee said, and she is hoping to increase that to about $5 million as “a decent base line.”

"A South Korean producer, Chul Shin, tried to strike a deal with the estate to make a such a film.

“There are projects you do for money and others you do for passion,” said Michael Sheehy, a former talent agent in Los Angeles who is an adviser to Mr. Shin. “This was a passion project for us. It must be an extremely compelling story that honors the legacy of Bruce Lee.”

Mr. Sheehy said the deal fell apart because the estate wanted too much creative control. He called the contractual demands “untenable,” and said no studio would accept them.

Ms. Lee acknowledged the seriousness of Mr. Shin’s approach but said she was unhappy with the scripts she had read. Also, test screenings of the special effects appeared rudimentary.

“We have to be careful or we’ll get left with a horrible movie that everybody’s laughing at,” she said. “The technology has not been advanced enough. Only now is it getting close.”

The dead can keep earning. Bruce Lee died in 1973, but his family still owns the rights to his imagery and persona.  So its a little shocking to see some large retailers like Target and Urban Outfitters decide to distribute T-Shirts for sale with some of his most iconic images emblazoned on the front, without his Estate’s permission. But that’s what happened and Lee’s family, through its company Bruce Lee Enterprises, LLC, sued them both for trademark infringement and unfair competition. The defendants moved to dismiss and today Federal Court Judge Laura Taylor Swain published a decision denying the motion.

The rights of the dead to keep earning are clear, Judge Swain said. Actually, I’m paraphrasing. What she actually said was:

Robert Lee, younger brother of Bruce, not affiliated with the "Estate". If there ever was a time, if there ever was a place. The events of today and tomorrow can shield the reality of what might be the final years the Bruce Lee name can yield a big return. The focus can shift elsewhere for new flavors, new colors, new sights and sounds. A diversion that can perhaps reach an even higher plateau that Bruce Lee could never dream or comprehend of. That is a worthy goal to aspire to. The parrots will be silenced by then.
