I don't know what type of event that would have been, but only 10 tables sounds pretty exclusive.

It was a private event, so is probably for the richer BL fan/collector, the one's who can afford to collect his belongings and rare footage. That said, it's still crazy what the Estate has done. It doesnt surprise me one bit though, not in todays climate.

Pine Box Bruce Lee double feature on July 31

45 years ago today Bruce Lee's funeral was held here at the Pine Box, which was then the Butterworth Funeral Parlor. Family, friends, & fans gathered here to pay tribute to the legendary actor and martial artist. Tonight we do the same. We'll be showing a double feature of Bruce Lee films and have some inspired specials.

Films:
7pm: The Chinese Connection (aka: Fist of Fury) (1972)
A young man seeks vengeance for the death of his teacher.

8:45pm: Way of the Dragon (1972)
A man visits his relatives at their restaurant in Italy and has to help them defend against brutal gangsters harassing them.

Of all te trashy explotation stuff I've read about in regards to the Little Dragon's image, this has to be one of the lowest.

This kind of event goes on, while the Estate block fan events etc, very odd.

Is this Shannon Lee promoting a Tekken arcade game?.

She did probably, but that pic looks over 20-years old.

I just finished Unsettled Matters. I believe about half of what I read... but there is quite a ring of truth in some of this. I find it interesting. I have a vast medical background and am a licensed medical practitioner... Bruce's symptoms and debilitating condition in the last months of his life ARE very similar to those in adrenal crisis and could very well be related to long term steroid and diuretic use. I understand the Lee Estate wanting to keep that under wraps, but it sure would be a cautionary tale to those young UFC fighters and martial artists coming up. The quicker route to physical peak performance, isn't the best. It comes with an enormous cost. X Ozzie

Bruce Lee Enterprises loses trademark fight with theatre company.

Bruce Lee Enterprises (BLE), the entity that manages the rights of late martial arts star Bruce Lee, has lost a trademark battle against a UK-based theatre company.

The UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO) handed down its judgment on Wednesday, August 8.

BLE applied to register the trademark ‘Jun Fan’ in 2016 for services in several classes, including 41, which covers “theatrical shows” among other services.

Jun Fan Lee was the birth name of Lee.

According to the IPO, theatre production company Barisons had previously been in communication with BLE regarding plans to launch a musical in the UK called “Jun Fan: the Bruce Lee Musical”.

Barisons claimed that BLE filed its trademark application as a blocking tactic and without any genuine intention to use the mark. As a result, the theatre company opposed the application and argued that it was made in bad faith and should be refused.

BLE filed a counter-statement denying the allegation and said that it filed the application to protect Lee’s IP rights and to expand the Bruce Lee brand in the UK.

In February 2017, Barisons itself filed an application to register ‘Jun Fan the Musical’, also in class 41 in relation to theatre production and musical theatre.

BLE opposed the application on three grounds.

First, on the basis of its earlier application in the same services. Second, it said that Barisons’ application would be a misrepresentation as it would indicate a “close relationship” between BLE and Barisons.

Finally, as BLE owns all of the IP rights of Bruce Lee and it wrote to Barisons expressing its objection to the production, the company argued that Barisons’ application was made in bad faith.

Allan James of the IPO said that BLE had failed to show that the name Jun Fan has a reputation in the UK at the relevant date of the applied-for trademark.

James also said that BLE knew that the musical was to be called “Jun Fan: the Bruce Lee Musical”. He added that personality rights do not exist under UK law and that BLE’s trademark application covered the same services that Barisons intended on offering.

James said that there was no evidence that BLE’s previous trademark applications covered theatrical shows in any other territories in class 41, and that the estate had no intention of offering such services.

“I therefore find that insofar as it covered theatrical shows in class 41, BLE’s trademark was purely a blocking mechanism to obstruct Barisons’ proposed musical,” said James.

While James allowed BSE to register the trademark for nine of the applied-for classes, he refused it under theatrical shows in class 41. However, it was allowed to be registered under class 41 for educational services.

BLE’s opposition failed, and the estate was ordered to pay Barisons £550 ($700).

Hearing talks 'Bruce Lee Enterprises' is in discussion with Romahome (UK) about sticking Bruce Lee's likeness on motorhomes? Maybe they'll bring back the Mirage which was based in Indiana.

The arcade version of TEKKEN 3 was released on the 20th March 1997 (probably taken around then).

The Estate were clearly less obsessed with people using his image/likeness back then too?. It's not like the Law character, was based on BL or anything, cough cough.

Would someone dressing up in the yellow GOD jumpsuit be considered as infringing on Bruce's likeness? Probably not, unless the Kill Bill producers paid a royalty fee. There are other examples, the Estate probably wants nothing to do with.

The Estate blocks Robert Chua holding an event, but let's things like this to be made.

I just wonder about how far they can go to enforce the "likeness" aspect in their claims. I mean, the Game of Death tracksuit is synonymous with Bruce Lee, do they stop used car commercials but pornographic productions have free reign?

Last Friday, the Bruce Lee social media accounts posted a photo of Bruce, with the caption "That Friday feeling". Of course they cropped out Nora Miao and Maria Yi in the process.
