The broken hearted swordsman 1980

Ko Fei plays Huo Qin (or Chin, I didn't clearly heard his name) who is a poor worker who is fond of gambling and lives with his mother. As he owes a lot of money to the boss of the gambling house, he has to escape and goes to another town, where he meets a beautiful girl playing lute and called Shen Chun Fan (or Fang) and they fall for each other, but a local boss wants the girl and she is sold.
Huo Qin decides to get money in order to buy her back and he offers his services to a rich man who organizes fights with another one.

Later, his new boss is killed and he has to escape again and he is almost killed but is helped by a young man called Yue Huan Shan, who works for Ku feng (playing Lord Qi).

They become friends and they work for Qi. Huan Shan is in love with Xiao Hong, who is the doctor's daughter.

One day, Ku Feng discovers that his wife is in love with a scholar and that they escaped, but they are caught, but when he sees how his wife is in love with the scholar, he finally let them go and, while he is drunk, he goes to the doctor's house when this latter is away and he rapes Xiao Hong.

When it's discovered that she is pregnant, she rejects Huan Shan and she tries to kill herself, but her father finally agrees that Ku feng marries her. Huan Shan is devastated, but he doesn't show it and congratulates his boss.

By a stroke of luck, Huo Qin meets again Chun Fan and she comes to live at Ku Feng's house.

There's something that I didn't understood very well : it seems that Ku Feng is the boss of an escort company, but sometimes, under the orders of a Master Wan, he sends Huo Qin and Huan Shan to attack escorts companies.

One day, as Huan Shan is hurt, Huo Qin goes to attack an escort company alone and he is defeated and becomes the prisoner of a Lord Xiong, who mistreats him.

While Huo Qin is prisoner, there are strange events taking place : people from Ku Feng's escort company and gambling house are attacked by a mysterious guy. Ku Feng tells Huan Shan that he thinks that his lieutenant Song Huang Fei is the mysterious guy and they meet at the tea house, and it appears that Ku Feng was right. And then, big twist in the plot : not only Song Huang Feng is the traitor, but also Yue Huan Shan and they take Ku Feng as a prisoner.

Earlier, Ku Feng had told Huan Shan that 20 years ago, he had a daughter but he didn't know where she was and he talked him about a jade bracelet.
Huan shan tries to seduce Chun Fan, who gives him a jade bracelet in order that he helps Huo Qin to escape from his prison.

While Ku feng is prisoner, Huan Shan tells him that he won't kill him but that he wants to revenge for having raped and married Xiao Hong and he gives him a drug. I guess that it must be a kind of aphrodisiac since when Huan Shan kidnaps Chun Fan and push her in the Ku Feng's cell, this latter rapes her.
Later, Yue Huan Shan gives the jade bracelet to Ku Feng and tells him that Chun Fan is his daughter, and Ku Feng is devastated. He talks to his servant and this latter tells the whole story to Chun Fan and they go to visit Ku Feng in his prison, but they discover that he killed himself.
I forgot to mention that earlier in the story, Xiao Hong killed herself when she discovered that Yue Huan Shan was the mastermind of the whole plot against her husband.

As Chun Fan doesn't want Huan Shan, this latter makes her become addicted to drugs after she has escaped in order to go to the house of one of Ku Feng's friends in order to ask for help and help Huo Qin to escape.

Huo Qin is in prison with a man whom he befriends and when he knows that Lord Xiong will execute him, this man gives a martial arts manual to Huo Qin in order that he can escape and get revenge for Ku feng, Xiao Hong and Chun Fan.

When he returns to the town, Huo Qin discovers that in order to get money for the drugs, Chun Fan tries to prostitute herself and they finally meet again.
Huo Qin goes to visit Huan Shan and they have a duel and Huan Shan is killed.

18 years later, another big twist in the plot ! It appears that Yue Huan Shan isn't dead and he kidnaps Huo Qin and Chun Fan's son, and later Chun Fan too.

There is another duel and finally, Huo Qin succeeds in getting rid of Yue Huan Shan.

Superb series. Ku Feng doesn't have a single fight in it, but Ko Fei and the other actor's fight are very good.
And there is only a few minutes of drunken kung fu in the series, very well performed by Ko Fei.

Worth watching.

Well, I had the luck to recently find the vcds boxset on a Chinese site, but I guess that it's a very rare hard to find series, at least in original release...
