I tried to include every relevant movie that could conceivably be chosen as a favorite, but avoided the truly crappy ones (unless it's one that some consider a guilty pleasure) or the really obscure ones. Apologies in advance if I missed your favorite, and I could possibly modify the poll if you let me know (it's the first time I do polls on this site).  I'm also thinking of doing a top 3 per year, as some years were simply overflowing with classics.  But I believe that would have to be manually calculated.

Not sure if this will work well or not, but any suggestions welcome!

2000: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - Although I think it is a little overrated it is still the best movie that year.

2001: Brotherhood of the Wolf

2002: Hero

2000:

I never thought I'd say this, but I prefer Romeo Must Die over Crouching Tiger. I personally find Crouching Tiger boring as hell. Thought Romeo Must Die isn't high art, it's at least fun.

2001:

Shaolin Soccer. Besides being hilarious, it's also a genuinely great movie.

2002:

Ugh. Tough choice. Drunken Monkey and The Transporter are dumb but fun, while Hero is actually good. The only problem is I haven't finished Hero, but I chose it anyway.

@KenHashibe, so Shanghai Noon wasn't even in the picture for you?

I thought Shanghai Noon was okay. I'm not a huge fan of the comedy style in Shanghai Noon unfortunately which makes up a lot of the movie. It still has that Jackie Chan charm though.

Very underrated year for Martial arts cinema. I would sprint to the theater in my boxer shorts just to catch these limited screening. Yes, Romeo must Die is the greatest film of all time, there is no dispute!!!! Wanna fight?
