POLL: Best Martial Arts Movies by Year (1970-1972)

I tried to include every relevant movie that could conceivably be chosen as a favorite, but avoided the truly crappy ones (unless it's one that some consider a guilty pleasure) or the really obscure ones. Apologies in advance if I missed your favorite, and I could possibly modify the poll if you let me know (it's the first time I do polls on this site).  I'm also thinking of doing a top 3 per year, as some years were simply overflowing with classics.  But I believe that would have to be manually calculated.  

Not sure if this will work well or not, but any suggestions welcome!

I would have gone for Delightful Forest, Pursuit or Black Tavern for 1972 if available.

1970 : Well, 3 movies with my favourite actor David Chiang and only one title to choose : that's too cruel !

 

And I have the same comment for 1972 : How to choose between Lady whirlwind, Hapkido, Boxer from Shantung, Bruce Lee's movies and King boxer without breakiing my heart ???!!!

Almost might as well. I'm not a fan of Ti Lung and David Chiang either. If The Big Boss was bumped to '70 and Fists of Fury to '71, I could vote Bruce Lee straight through. But it is what it is. I guess this way at least JWY has a chance to win 1 year.

1970:

The Heroic Ones was the only movie form the listed films that I saw so I had to choose it.

1971:

The New One Armed Swordsman easily takes the cake for me. Great story, great action, great characters. All around great movie.

1972:

Fist of Fury. Easy.

1970 - VENGEANCE! - I might've voted for Chinese Boxer were it not for the rape scene that left a bad taste in my mouth.

1971 - THE BIG BOSS - Bruce Lee's first, nuff said!

1972 - WAY OF THE DRAGON - I find it to be paced better than FIST OF FURY, the end fight is more legendary, and it is less sleazy than its more-praised counterpart.

I really wish King Boxer and Delghtful Forest weren't made in the same year.. King Boxer is possibly my favorite movie ever, so it wins by default..

 

but Delightful Forest is so damn great, I feel bad for not voting for it. The action in that film is ahead of its time for sure, and it's great beyond the action too.

At the moment I'm thinking The Chinese Boxer, The Big Boss and The Way of the Dragon.

 

I haven't got around to watching A Touch of Zen yet. Which is my main reason for not voting yet.
