Member DragonClaws Posted April 5, 2018 Author Member Share Posted April 5, 2018 Appreciate the many up-dates @whitesnake, I've added the title's you have posted about, in the the A-Z list, in the first post. Should we let the Jackie Chan fan favorite(Cough, Cough) Tuxedo, join the list?.

Well from what I recall about it, it does have SF elements (and obviously MA elements).

Member whitesnake Posted April 7, 2018 Member Share Posted April 7, 2018 How about Kung Fury the movie, sequel to the Kung Fury short? Variety article movie plot description - "The feature film will be set in 1985 in Miami, which is kept safe under the watchful eye of the police officer Kung Fury through his Thundercops police force. After the tragic death of a Thundercop causes the group to disband, a mysterious villain emerges from the shadows to aid in the Fuhrer’s quest to attain the ultimate weapon." While the IMDB description says - "The story will focus on Kung Fury's universe with no real connection to the short movie other than the lead character", we know the movie will have martial arts, and, with that connection to the Fuhrer's quest, there should be some sci-fi elements. The Barbarianna character will be in the movie, and Hackerman is rumored to appear as well.

Sounds like it fits, a lot of the action in the short, looked like it had been lifted from The Streets Of Rage games.

Secret agents are called 'Lady Ninja', and they use a traditional Japanese umbrella-like tool called 'sangoku' to defeat evil. Member DragonClaws Posted May 13, 2018 Author Member Share Posted May 13, 2018 From a recent Instagram post by Alain Moussi, it looks like his next project after Kickboxer 3, Jiu-Jitsu, will have a sci-fi element to it. Certainly something to keep an eye on, when they start production later this year.

Cast includes Chiu Chi Ling (as the Kung Fu Master and Tailor), Pearce Blair (as Ambassador Jerome), Nick Messersmith (as Sung), Xavier Luo (as General Ming), Shawna Tran (as the Princess), and Mike Guzman (as a Super Soldier). Hung Gar Master Chiu Chi Ling has appeared in Bruce's Deadly Fingers, Snake in the Eagle's Shadow, Enter the Fat Dragon, Mahjong Heroes, Winners & Sinners, Legend of the Dragon, Kung Fu Hustle (in which he played the Tailor), and The Mermaid. I did not write the plot description; that, additional background, and scenes from the movie (yes, it looks pretty bad) are on the Kickstarter website - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/864298596/chiu-chi-ling-in-2054/ The poster looks better than the movie.

Member whitesnake Posted June 16, 2018 Member Share Posted June 16, 2018 (edited) Legends of the Three Kingdoms (aka Love Illusion aka San Guo Sha: Nu Shen Yue Ma) is a 2018 Chinese sci-fi/fantasy martial arts action movie starring Ekin Cheng (Young and Dangerous), Jia Qing (White Vengeance), Yu Rongguang (Swordsman III: East is Red), Michael Tse (Young and Dangerous), and Jerry Lamb (Young and Dangerous). The movie is written and directed by Lu Kejing. The plot revolves around a long-running card game that "teaches people to identify loyalty and treachery" and to "distinguish between right and wrong". The game traces back to Zuo Ci, a Taoist sage from the Three Kingdoms period. (I assume it's loosely based on the Legends of the Three Kingdoms Chinese card game.) Ekin Cheng is the hero whose "unique blood... can activate the Artifact," a glowing golden lion head. Info from chinesemov.com. Another plot description - The movie is about "the battles to recover two ancient artifacts that are said [to] harness the astonishing powers of the Heroes Gate." "The story centers on a troubled military vet, played by Damien Chinappi, who stumbles across a kidnapping with great scientific implications. He partners with a prostitute to help a young escapee and finds a world far more complex, cutthroat and dangerous than they could ever imagine." The movie is directed by Harley Wallen ("versatile martial arts champion and multi-award winning writer and director"), based on his script. Cast includes Harley Wallen (Moving Parts), Damien Chinappi (Retribution), Scout Taylor-Compton (Rob Zombie's Halloween), Richard Tyson (Kindergarten Cop), Billy Wirth (The Lost Boys), Mel Novak ("martial arts legend and quintessential action movie villain"), Yan Birch (Death House), Vida Ghaffari (The Mindy Project), Shane Hagedorn (Ashes of Eden), Calhoun Koenig (Love Espionage: Spy Revenge), Kaiti Wallen (Harley Wallen's wife), and Angelina Danielle Cama (Necroland). Member whitesnake Posted July 16, 2018 Member Share Posted July 16, 2018 The Chinese fantasy epic, Asura (2018), previously posted in this thread, is China's most expensive film ever made (to date). It flopped big-time this past weekend on its opening release in China, and the film was yanked from theaters. "A representative from Zhenjian Film, which is credited as lead producer, later told Chinese news site Sina. 'This decision was made not only because of the bad box office. We plan to make some changes to the film and release it again.' " Putting lipstick on a pig? Member whitesnake Posted August 12, 2018 Member Share Posted August 12, 2018 (edited) Super Mechs is a 2018 Chinese movie, opening August 26, set in 2066 (except it looks too much like present day). There are combat suits, too similar to that of Iron Man, but in other colors. The martial arts is in the combat styles used by two men in combat suits in what is a good vs. evil struggle. Good is white; evil is silver-grey, carrying two slim swords. Super Mechs is directed by Cui Junjie, and stars Peng Yusi (Justice Bao TV series, 2014), Sam Lee (Lost in Hong Kong), and Zhu Jiaxi (Justice Bao TV series, 2014). Member whitesnake Posted August 23, 2018 Member Share Posted August 23, 2018 (edited) Yet another new trailer from HK Cinema Youtube Channel. Dollhouse is a new Chinese sci-fi movie. Based on the trailer, the plot looks like - an older professor-type builds three androids, beautiful women, modeled after dolls, who have super-speed, the ability to leap high, and they're crime-fighters in a large city. And of course they use martial arts. Chinese theatrical release date is August 21, 2018. I haven't found any other info about Dollhouse, except for the trailer. Member whitesnake Posted October 4, 2018 Member Share Posted October 4, 2018 (edited) The 2017 Japanese movie BraveStorm is a "remake of the 1970s TV series 'Silver Mask' and 'Super Robot Red Baron' [that] pits two families (one with an armored bionic superhero, and the other a red giant robot) against evil aliens to save Earth and prevent the extinction of mankind." It is written and directed by Okabe Junya. Cast includes Daito Shunsuke (Ace Attorney), Watanabe Shu (Attack on Titan: Part 1), and Matsuzaki Yuki (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides). It was part of the film schedule for the 2018 Dutch Camera Japan Festival in Amsterdam in October. The Japanese film festival includes several new and old supernatural and sci-fi movies.
