Please could you post the Chinese name from Baidu, all I saw was the English "Lik Cheung".

I'm at home and I can't access baidu !! I don't know why, because I could years ago, so, I'll try on tomorrow or on Friday when I'll be back at work.

There were two Chinese characters near the English name didn't you see them ? Fomr memory, they were written before the English  name.

Maybe you are right and I'm wrong, I don't know.

Not seeing any other names, maybe it's not loading for me, you can't trust these Chinese sites.

As for accessing the page, are you using a VPN? That could be the reason, I noticed about a month or two ago that sites that were fine before are now inaccessible while using a VPN, good old free and fair CCP up to their usual tricks.

He had a page on the now defunct hkfact.com that I had to translate. It just had his filmography. Nothing personal.

Said he was a martial arts instructor for some low budget films and TV shows up to 1994. He wrote an episode of one, too.

I found him credited as a writer on Wikipedia.

I've been going bonkers trying to get all his films. With all the different names, it makes it almost impossible. I did however find this on 'The Big Boss2'. I'm afraid we're not getting much more info than this, but we can always hope. I did have him pegged as doing some Tae Kwon Do judging by a video I saw but I bet he knew a whole bunch of styles. He is one bad dude. Too bad he never got to Shaw or Golden Harvest, but like I said, he made anything he was in watchable. :thumbsup52112002_CheungLik.png.24878aec38921e53303dd26b5a81650d.png

Maybe there's former actors on Facebook that may know of his current whereabouts.

I must say, it was a bit shallow of the studios to use him as a gimmick. He was so good in his own right, that he didn't have to copy anyone else's style.

Are you sure that this source is reliable ?

There is no mention of Jacky Chang in the list of his aliases on hkcinemagic nor on hkmdb , and according to this latter site, he made movies from 1970 to 1988, so, it's a 18 years career (hkcinemagic only mentions movies from 1970 to 1984).

He began at Cathay Studio, where he played in the movies The inn of mercy ; Lucky strike ; Captive ; Mission to die ; Her vengeance ; The living sword ; Monkey comes again ; Please, Sir, we're sorry.

He also played in several Shaws' movies : The casino ; Trilogy of swordsmanship ; 14 amazons ; The fugitive ; A:bitious kung fu girl; the big sting ; Return of the bastard swordsman ; Secret service of Imperial Court and How to choose a royal bride.

He is the martial arts director of 10 Magnificent killers and Bruce Lee the invincible.

I'm not sure of anything these days, but here is the credit in the movie. With all the alternate movie name, I bet they just threw a few credits up. Probably because they had a hard a time finding information as we do.

The Hong Kong Cinematic link has Zero regarding aliases, but he does seem to be a Tae Kwon Do exponent.

Seems legit to me, but I've been wrong before!

I did forget he was in a Shaw movie, but I didn't recognize him. Only watched it once. Maybe they didn't include his TV work.

Couldn't find anything new on the Korean side of things, but did notice that HKMDB has Wai Lung and Wei Long as alternative names, there doesn't seem to be any Chinese characters for these there.

These could just be made up names for certain film prints, so if you want to do a deep dive yourself this may be something to look into, I won't be doing so myself as I have Korean stuff I'm already working through, so I don't have time.

Couldn't have said it any better. The man is fierce! Great kicks. I think he's a good actor also. Then again, I think they all were good actors. I saw him in a movie with Meng Fei and it made no sense because Meng Fei did nothing in the movie....just disappeared, but it was pretty cool! I would have loved to see Cheung Like with Alexander Fu Sheng. :thumbsup

It was this one, I believe. :) "The Return of Bruce"

Hong Kong Cinemagic - Return Of Bruce (hkcinemagic.com)

Oh, yes, I have an old French language VHS of this movie that I bought in the 90's. I haven't watched it since then, and at that time, I didn't even know who Meng Fei was ! I don't remember a single line og the plot either, and of course, I didn't know who Chang Li was either ! I'm not even sure that I have now a dvd version of this movie...

Anything I don't have I just snatch off you tube with 4K Downloader., just so I don't have to deal with annoying commercials. It'll be a tough find, but I'll pass along any info if I see a DVD version.

Meng Fei is really great. I didn't know much about him other than 5 Shaolin Masters until I started getting the Taiwan Wuxia. A very handsome man as well I don't mind saying! His skills are as good as anyone. I wonder where he learned his martial arts. Actually, I wonder that about everyone.  They are ALL amazing.

I still cannot get any information on Cheung Lik whatsoever. :monk_toasting:

The trailer for Bruce's Dearly Fingers promoted him as a new star, yet he had already been in so many movies. I reckon he was just too obscure to the overseas markets, and quit the business before people got to know more about him.

According to Wikipedia though, he wrote an episode of a Hong Kong TV series in 1994 or 1996. Unless that's somebody else. Hmm.

As you say, that could be him or maybe a mix up. Some sites mixed him with a stuntman on OUATIC 3, that I doubt very much is him.

If you go on the Hong Kong film database, it's often the case that the pages only list the movies of such actors in Asian martial arts motion pictures. Nothing about what they did outside of acting.

I think some of them like Dragon Lee still attend conventions. Bolo was in Edinburgh in 2020, I think. He was here in my city with JCVD for Comic-Con.

If you know any film stars on Facebook from the heyday of the boom, you could try asking them nicely if they know anything. But I doubt they'd know either, and they probably wouldn't say anything because he's now an ex actor. They probably haven't spoken to him since he retired anyway.

Keo Ryong (aka Dragon Lee), although retired from stardom in the 90s he's still been very much involved in the Korean movie industry, especially in his role as the president of the Korean Film Actors Association.

I've not had much luck reaching out to former martial arts actors, I think there's still a bit of a taboo about talking about your former career in cinema. You might want to try contacting Toby Russell, I've not tried before myself, but apparently he does try to answer fans and has a good knowledge of the former martial arts actors.

I would, but I don't use Facebook. They always put me through these irritating "checkpoints" and then they disabled my account. 😎
