Member Cloud Hands Posted March 31, 2017 Member Share Posted March 31, 2017 RIP Philip Ko. I've been looking over a list of his filmography and noted classic after classic, in multiple styles from shapes and Shaw wu xias to 80s modern day actioners. An incredible body of work. How did I not know this? How did I miss it? Reveal hidden contents And how on Earth is his character going to appear in it? Will it be the old twin brother routine?" After a second I realized what you were actually saying. Definitely one of his best roles IMO in a delightfully OTT film. After I posted the message, I re-read what I wrote and I had the same reaction for a brief second. I was like "Boxer's Omen 2? There's no such thing!" and then I realized my mistake in leaving out the punctuation. My 7th grade English teacher is shaking her head back and forth saying "Why did I bother? :)"
Member DrNgor Posted April 1, 2017 Member Share Posted April 1, 2017 R.I.P. Ko Fei. He participated in the final fight of Two for the Road, one of the greatest fights of all time. He participated in the final fight of Tiger Over Wall, one of the greatest fights of all time. He participated in the final fight of Deadly Challenger, one of the greatest fights of all time. He participated in the warehouse fight of Twinkle, Twinkle, Lucky Stars, one of the best fights of the 80s. The man was a legend. Newbies like Eddie Peng, Philip Ng, and the like should take notes from the man's career.
Member ShaOW!linDude Posted April 1, 2017 Member Share Posted April 1, 2017 I hate we are losing people like this who helped to create this genre we all love. I know I've seen him in tons of stuff as a bit player and a few of his starring roles. I need to dig into his filmography. He has an voluminous catalog. (I was just checking out his HkMDb page, and at the bottom it has a brief bio. I didn't know he was a Choy Li Fut stylist.) Wasn't there a Mutual Review month dedicated to him? Did that get lost in the Blackout of 2016?
Member NoKUNGFUforYU Posted April 1, 2017 Member Share Posted April 1, 2017 In honor of the late, great Philip Ko Fei I am presenting Blood Revenge, one of, if not the last Union film produced. Pretty much wall to wall fighting, so enjoy it in all it's basher glory.

Member AgriWuxia Posted April 3, 2017 Member Share Posted April 3, 2017 Sadly, the passage of time has claimed yet another much loved member of the Shaw cast, an occurrence with which we are unfortunately becoming all too familiar. Collectively, these are the people who brought Sir Run Run Shaw's vision to life, and inevitably the loss of each individual is felt so personally by fans of the genre. In remembrance of Philip Ko Fei, I actually chose to revisit a contemporary horror film in which he played a leading role - Seeding of a Ghost (1983). No martial arts fights per se in this film, but a couple of realistic street fights nonetheless. Yet, it was the contemporary setting that was important for me at the time, perhaps to capture a more representative portrayal of the actor as he would be in real life. In any case, I can think of no better way to honour his memory than to view and enjoy the films to which he made such a significant contribution. Rest In Peace. Member CT KID Posted April 13, 2017 Member Share Posted April 13, 2017 Always made a great bad guy, loved him as the evil Karateka in Duel of the 7 Tigers. Sad to hear of his passing, seeing these people I grew up watching in Kung Fu films reminds me I'm getting old too and that of course we're not gonna live forever.... Member AlbertV Posted April 24, 2017 Member Share Posted April 24, 2017 Some photos from Ko's funeral: Ko's son Jamie (who suffered a stroke and lives in Tai Po) stares at his father's photo. Vincent Wan, aka Ben from the Young and Dangerous films and longtime friend of Ko said that Ko's dying wish was for Jamie to be able to take care of himself, but Wan is making the first steps to help him apparently. Vincent Wan Jason Pai Piao Ben Ng, who was a protege of Ko's and credited him for getting his first lead role. The two met when they worked together at ATV. http://hktopten.blogspot.com/2017/04/20170423-vincent-wan-says-philip-kos.html

At the age of 19, his friend referred him to Shaw Brothers as a stuntman. Kao's first film was director Chang Cheh's "The Heroic Ones". After working in "Boxer From Shantung", Kao moved to Taiwan to further develop his career, where he worked as an action choreographer and actor. Kao returned to Hong Kong five years later and worked in both regions. He reunited with Shaw Brothers in 1981 and was instantly cast as a pivotal role in Lan Nei-Tsai's "Brothers From the Walled City", where he portrayed Chien Hsiao-Hou's brother, and received rave reviews. He was starred in "Mercenaries From Hong Kong", "The Eight Diagram Pole Fighter" and "The Boxer's Omen". Kao also got his directorial debut in 1982 with "Dirty Angel". Member yiyuen Posted September 4, 2018 Member Share Posted September 4, 2018 Not the greatest actor, but the right face and the right talent for you need to be a tough guy of Kung-fu movies, Kao Fei did so many good and bad (and sometimes really really bad) movies that you can't ignore him. He was an hystorical face on his own. I was sorry about his missing. He traveled from the old style actioners to the new ones keeping himself Always credible. God bless him. Thanx for remembering.
