Member KenHashibe Posted March 27, 2017 Member Share Posted March 27, 2017 I love martial arts movie trailers. They're so much fun to watch since they typically include the best parts of a movie all within a 3-4 minute trailer. However, my biggest pet peeve with them is that some of them SPOIL THE FREAKING MOVIE! One of my favorite examples is from the original Hong Kong trailer for The Heroic Ones (1977)... Spoiler ...which shows David Chiang being quartered, Ti Lung being attacked (and presumably killed), and Wong Chung being stabbed to death. My immediate reaction to seeing that trailer was "Did they really just show that? That's unbelievable." Or how about the Hong Kong trailer for The Avenging Eagle (1978)? The Avenging Eagle is a notable kung fu movie because it actually has a twist. A really good twist. However, it kinda sucks when that twist is given away in the trailer. Well, I guess I might as well not see the movie anymore. Why do trailers do this crap?
