Member AlbertV Posted March 20, 2017 Member Share Posted March 20, 2017 Golden Scene has picked up Chapman To's third film as director, a martial arts film entitled The Empty Hands (formerly known as Karate). The film stars pop starlet Stephy Tang as the daughter of a karate master who wishes to sell his dojo and learns that 51% of the dojo is owned by one of the school's worst students. The film co-stars To, Stephen Au, Yasuaki Kurata, and Dada Chen. To is also credited as an action director along with Jack Wong, Stephen Au, Tommy Leung, Ryouichi Ishijima, and Billy Lui. In preparation for her lead role, Tang had trained with Stephen Au in martial arts, including both karate and Muay Thai. Au has been impressed with Tang's natural athletic abilities and she had even bruised him quite a bit during training. Tang enjoyed the experience so much she wants to continue learning martial arts after shooting the film. http://www.screendaily.com/news/filmart-chapman-tos-the-empty-hands-gets-international-sales-deal/5115772.article http://hktopten.blogspot.com/2016/11/20161123-stephy-tang-wants-to-keep.html

I definitely will have to see this for myself http://screenanarchy.com/2017/10/review-the-empty-hands-sees-chapman-to-and-stephy-tang-reborn.html

Member Drunken Monk Posted January 16, 2018 Member Share Posted January 16, 2018 The Silver Spleem (whose YouTube reviews I enjoy immensely) put this in his "Worst of 2017" list. He basically said it was a pretentious bore.
