I have 1 and 2 on DVD but never saw part 3. I remember the hype about Mike Tyson playing the boxer Yen fights in it, that would be interesting to see. Yen vs Adkins should be epic, been a fan of his since watching Ninja 1 and 2 and the Boyka films. Would love to see Yen and Kane Kosugi throwdown on screen one day soon too.

I definitely recommend 3 (and the spinoff film that spawned from it). Yen vs Adkins should be immense.

Ip Man 3 is brilliant imo. I love it, and man it gets me teared up at the end. The trailer for 4 has me slightly concerned it's going back to the whole nationalism thing, still excited though.

I think Mike Tyson being in part 3 left a bad taste in some people. That aside I think part 3 was a nice change from the nationalism that was all over in the previous two parts, and got to culminate Yip Man's relationship with his wife in a way that was shown little before and brought the movie to another level emotionally. It's a bit of a slow start in the beginning yes but as the story progresses, you get to see and understand what Yip and wife are going through and how the wife's suffering affects him and his overall priorities in life. All that, along with Max Zhang's subplot, is what makes the movie (action aside) great.

Apart from making a statement of traditional MA in a modernized society with modern combat styles, I'm sot sure what Donnie/team will tell us this time but it's interesting to find out. And of course, watching the action. So I'm in.

Unless it plays locally then I am waiting for the blu-ray release. Just a little burnt out on this series right now as it looks more like Ip Man greatest hits (if you'll pardon the pun) instead of moving things forward. Hoping the movie will be better than the trailer implies. And, I know that this series has already jumped the shark regarding real life Ip Man. But, at least the movies have been entertaining so far. I know these movies can be very predictable but I think they should try some different things than just checking the boxes with what people expect from the series. Honestly, do we really need another racist white guy that picks on the poor helpless Chinese?

That had better not be the only screening! If it wasn't the day before Christmas Eve in a bloody annoyingly placed cinema in London at a time when the train company aren't striking for 27 DAYS then I'd be there in a heartbeat!
