Member AlbertV Posted March 8, 2017 Member Share Posted March 8, 2017 Take a spaghetti western, get a female perspective of the genre, and combine influences from Christopher Nolan and Quentin Tarentino, and you will have this latest film from Dutch director Martin Koolhoven (Winter in Wartime). Dakota Fanning plays a mute frontier woman on the run from a dangerous Dutch preacher, played by Guy Pearce, who has ties to her past. The film comes to select theaters, VOD, and Digital HD this Friday. I saw the film and it is very structured in terms of its storytelling (split in four chapters that may remind you of Citizen Kane or Memento) and both Fanning and Pearce really drive the film with their performances. https://worldfilmgeek.com/2017/03/08/review-brimstone-2017/ I also interviewed writer-director Koolhoven, who calls this his most personal film yet due to both his Dutch upbringing and his love of spaghetti westerns.https://worldfilmgeek.com/2017/03/08/interview-with-martin-koolhoven-the-writer-director-of-brimstone/
