Member AlbertV Posted February 15, 2017 Member Share Posted February 15, 2017 This prequel to the original 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre is already shot and edited...Lionsgate still hasn't released a trailer or release date yet, but some intricate details about the film have been revealed via Bloody Disgusting: Writer Seth M. Sherwood gave some revealing plot details that connect this film to virtually the first three TCM films and gave word on some new and returning characters: First the plot: Four teen escapees from a mental asylum kidnap a nurse and take her on a road trip from Hell. They are pursued by a equally deranged Texas Ranger named Hal Hartman. However, of the four escapees, one of the three young boys will soon learn his destiny and become the chainsaw-wielding Leatherface. Sherwood revealed that he took ideas from the first three films and meshed them to craft the script. He has revealed: Hal Hartman is the father of Texas Chainsaw 3D's character of Burt Hartman, who led the charge to burn down the Sawyer house in the opening of that film. We will meet a new character named Ted Hardesty, who is the father of the original TCM's Sally and Franklin. The character of the Hitchhiker, whose name is the oddly named "Nubbins", will also appear in the film. Also returning in terms of characters is the character of Verna Sawyer, the grandmother of Texas Chainsaw 3D's Heather, who bequeathed the house to her in the film. The film stars Stephen Dorff as Ranger Hartman, Lili Taylor as Verna Sawyer, Iron Fist himself Finn Jones as Hartman's partner, Julian Kostov as Ted Hardesty, Vanessa Grasse as the nurse, Jessica Madsen as the female escapee and either Sam Strike, James Bloor, or Sam Coleman is the future Leatherface. The film was directed by the French duo of Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo.

Member AlbertV Posted January 19, 2018 Author Member Share Posted January 19, 2018 I was somewhat skeptical but it actually was a cross between Natural Born Killers and the Usual Suspects and kept the legacy of the Sawyer family pretty decently and that rivalry with the Hartman family from Texas Chainsaw 3D. I actually ended up liking it. Major kudos to the young British actors (Sam Strike, Sam Coleman, Vanessa Grasse, Jessica Madsen, and James Bloor) who did a great job hiding their accents to play the roles. https://worldfilmgeek.com/2017/09/26/review-leatherface-2017/ Here's a making of the film video from On the Set
