Paul Smith in Bruce Li's Return of the Tiger.

Good one @HyperDrive.

We know IMDB is not ways the most factual place, but they claim he had a black belt in Tae Kwon Do?. This cant be true, even in the Martia Arts movie he appeared in, I never got this impression.

His wikipedia entry has no mention of such a thing.

Would this throwdown between MMA fighter Alain Ngalani and Tiger Chen, from Man Of Tai Chi fit the criteria of this thread?.

Someone might have been inspired by this thread?.

The title isn’t meant to be biblical in any sense but calling it just “Small Guy vs. Big Guy” or something so obviously descriptive didn’t sound nearly as eloquent. You’ll also notice Nathan Jones is in quite a few of these as he seems to be the go-to guy for physically imposing villains in many martial arts movies.

How is it that those big guy who have both the strength & size advantage always goes for a chock/ the throat and then resort to throwing things instead of just pummeling their opponent with big blows.

Very good point, and there always there just to take bumps for the hero of course. Unless it Hero & The Terror, where Norris loses to the big man, and his struggle leaves him mentall scared.

Alain Moussi got the life pummeled out of him, in the last Kickboxer finale.

Here's one of John Wick's future opponents, from the up-coming sequel, starring Keanu Reeves & Halle Berry.

Slighty off topic, but still related. The novelty of small fighter facing a larger one, still puts bums on seats in the fight game too. This kind of thing, has been going on since the days of the roman gladiators. Here's Tyson Fury's latest novelty fight.

It's not often Dave Bautista come up looking shorter than his co-star's, behind the scene image from Final Score(2018).
