Member AlbertV Posted December 15, 2016 Member Share Posted December 15, 2016 Originally to have been called Pacific Rim: Maelstrom, the sequel's official title is now Pacific Rim: Uprising Steven S. DeKnight, the showrunner for season 1 of Netflix's Daredevil, takes over directing duties with original PR helmer Guillermo Del Toro producing and approving of DeKnight's choice as director. John Boyega, better known as Finn from the new Star Wars sequels, is the lead role of the son of Idris Elba's Capt. Pentecost. The film co-stars Scott Eastwood, Adria Arjona, and Cailee Spaney. Shooting is underway in Australia and China for a release date of February 23, 2018.

Member DrNgor Posted January 10, 2017 Member Share Posted January 10, 2017 I prefer Maelstrom to Uprising as a subtitle. The latter reminds me of Independence Day: Resurgence, and we all know how well that movie did at the box office (not that there's a correlation between the subtitle and the box office performance). Member AlbertV Posted April 6, 2018 Author Member Share Posted April 6, 2018 Saw the film last night...actually enjoyed it. The original is truly awesome, but for its setting and story, pretty enjoyable. Sonny Chiba's son Mackenyu is in the film as Ryoichi, one of the new Jaeger pilots. Member Drunken Monk Posted April 30, 2018 Member Share Posted April 30, 2018 I was unfortunate enough to sit through this one last night. Horrendous film. The plot was all over the place and once Mt. Fuji came into play, the whole thing felt like a parody. Surprisingly, the action was pretty shit too. It was just so...standard. They didn't do anything exciting or new.
