Guest GwaiLoMoFo
Ugetsu is on IFC's Samurai Saturday tomorrow. Its being shown in a double feature with Zatoichi and The Chess Expert (one of my all time fav Zato's). Looking forward to seeing Ugetsu, have not yet seen it. But have heard nothing but great things about it.
Guest vengeanceofhumanlanterns
I just purchased this film. I've watched it twice already. The story is ultra realistic (w/ the exception of maybe one or two scenes). This is not a samurai flick. This movie is a ghost story filmed in 1953. It's very atmospheric (along the lines of the ghost in the woods who prophetizes Toshiro Mifune's ascension in Throne Of Blood), if you like that sort of ambience, you'll appreciate this film. Criterion released it. If you've already seen it, what'd ya think?
