Just wanted to mention that The Chinatown Kid is up on iTunes. No English dub, and I think it only has the mandarin dub (is that the preferred dialect for this one? I know CC is almost always mandarin but given the location and time of the story I thought it might be Cantonese). Member Chemical Lemon Posted December 13, 2016 Author Member Share Posted December 13, 2016 Restored the list to it's last updated version Added The Kid With a Tattoo and The Chinatown Kid There were some blurbs above the list, I think mostly about ways to search for movies, because iTunes updates a couple different ways and sometimes not all the indexes and pages update simultaneously, but also links to some of Celestial's webpages that have info about upcoming releases, etc. It wasn't particularly important, I don't really remember what was there and I never updated, but it's probably gone for good. Don't think it matters. I did make one change to reflect some of the comments related to the trailers Celestial frequently releases that says movies are up on iTunes. For the moment I'm moving those movies out of Expected into it's own category "Promoted". At least some of those movies (all Venoms movies I think) will probably not be coming anytime soon. Celestial has just been promoting venoms movies and threw together trailers for them. Some of these have shown on El Rey recently but were only SD, so if they are being rescanned for HD it may be a while. There are a few movies like "The Magic Blade", "The Monkey Goes West", and "Return of the Sentimental Swordsman" that were listed on the recently launched SB Universe webpage that I *think* are probably coming soon, but I'm not sure what's up with the 2 competing web pages. So for now anything on Celestial's webpage will be listed as expected, and anything else (facebook or the SB Universe web page) will go up as "Promoted". That's something I'd like to do but it can get pretty complicated and sometimes contentious with alternative cuts, etc. That's one of the reasons I threw the running time in there. I figured people who are familiar with the different cuts of the movie could make a guess at which version this is. But it also gets a little strange with time differences caused by conversion issues and celestials penchant for cutting frames for damage or no reason. I could throw something in the notes for "famous" cuts like the Chinatown Kid and Avenging Eagle. Other than those 2 I can't think off the top of my head which ones I know are cut. If anyone knows any that are cut and think they should be noted feel free to add posts and I'll try and update them. Can't be wordy though, there's limited real estate without making the table difficult to read. I don't mind using footnotes and putting details at the bottom though. The only one I couldn't find was Boxer Rebellion. Makes me wonder if there are a bunch more out there. BTW, they're currently coming up as $10 for HD, which is $2 more than typical. I swear that I told myself back in January that this would be the year when I cut back spending money on blu-rays and home video, etc. Yeah, right! Damn you, Celestial! Good news! Will be picking up Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre 2, Swordsman and Enchantress and Return of the Sentimental Swordsman. Man, this is such an exciting time for Shaw Brothers. Prefer the blu-rays but will continue to get the iTunes releases until I get all that I want or those cheap German blu-rays get released on a more consistent basis. It is weird because there was no activity to report on this thread since Jan/Feb, then suddenly, boom!, back in business. There are some nice titles being released now too. It is going to be difficult for me to keep track due to 88 Films, WVG and iTunes all releasing Shaws content at the same time. Some things are going to have to get pushed back to a later date due to the finances. But, I still want to get what I can. I wonder if Swordsman and Enchantress is anamorphic this time around? I believe there was a problem with it when Image released it on dvd several years back. And, if Death Duel will be cropped like the recent IVL blu-ray?
