Assassination (2015) - New Movie from Choi Dong-hoon, Director of 'The Thieves'

Choi Dong-hoon, arguably the most entertaining mainstream director working in Korea right now, is following up his 2012 blockbuster 'The Thieves', with period actioner 'Assassination'.

 

Dong-hoon is bringing back 'The Thieves' cast members Jeon Ji-hyeon, Lee Jeong-jae, & Oh Dal-soo, as well as throwing Ha Jeong-woo ('The Chaser', 'The Yellow Sea', 'Berlin File') into the mix.

 

The first teaser trailer has just been released, and this looks like it's going to be another entertaining slice of popcorn entertainment from Dong-hoon.

This Korean film came out this past July in Korea but got a limited theatrical release in the U.S. in August. Well Go USA is releasing the film on DVD & Blu-Ray on December 1.

 

The film was co-written and directed by Choi Dong-Hoon and stars Gianna Jun, Lee Jung-Jae, and Ha Jung-Woo.

 

Snipers. Marksmen. Hired Guns. Double Agents. A group of exiled rebels are planning a hit on an Army Commander in Japanese-occupied Korea, but the only killer for the job is in prison. Now, the Resistance must devise a  jailbreak, escape a hitman...and discover which of them is a traitor.
