I just received word that Tien Feng, one of the most beloved actors of the classic kung fu genre, passed away last night at the age of 87.

He was born on June 4, 1928 as Tian Yu-Kung. In 1960, he relocated to Hong Kong and joined the Shaw Brothers, where he appeared in many of their films, especially the wuxia pian films. Many will remember him for his roles in films like The One-Armed SwordsmanFist of Fury,The Cub Tiger from Kwangtung (Jackie Chan's first lead role...he played Jackie's adopted father), and of course, The Young Master. While he continued to make films, he had returned to Taiwan in the 1980's and performed on both the films and the stage.

His last known film role was in the anthology film Eros in 1994.

Here's Tien Feng's page on Hong Kong Movie Database

R.I.P. Tien Feng.

RIP Tien Feng.

He was in the first kung fu movie I saw in 1973 with my ex.

Can you guess the movie?

Oh the thrill of that day, a triple header including Bruce Lee's Big Boss.

Sad news, I remember him playing Jackie Chan's father in Little Tiger From Canton and his role in the Fist Of Fury movies.

The ONLY person to ever knock Bruce Lee out...done with a shovel.

The entire Japanese school could never got close to knocking him out, and as you pointed out Feng did it with just a shovel.
