The kid who played Daigoro in the movies was Akihiro Tomikawa. I googled but couldn't find anything about him, aside from his co-starring in those movies.

As for the actor playing Daigoro (Kazutaka Nishikawa) in the Kozure Okami tv series, that's an interesting story. In 1995 he became a politician in a city in Niigata province (Japan). In 1999 he murdered (by strangulation) a local moneylender and stole 5 million yen from him. Nishikawa fled to Thailand, was caught, sent back to Japan, tried, and sentenced to life imprisonment in 2000. There's more on this story in barclay.e-city.tv/dreamwtr/feature1.html (if it's not there, check yahoo for "your life at risk-taking a public bath in Japan" and go to to cached site, and go down the page to the "Daigoro Busted" sidebar.

Shawman - I googled for "Daigoro busted" and came up with "Daigoro busted for gun-running" and came up with the following story: "Akihiro Tomikawa

Kyodo via Japan Today: Ex-actor gets 3 years for smuggling handgun from Thailand (http://www.japantoday.com/e/?content=news&cat=2&id=327198)

A former child actor known for his role in a popular samurai film [based on the Kozure Okami series] in the 1970s was sentenced on Tuesday to three years in prison for smuggling a handgun into Japan from Thailand at the request of a woman. The ruling handed down against 36-year-old Akihiro Tomikawa by the Tokyo District Court fell short of prosecutors' demand by one year. He faced charges including violation of the law on firearms and swords." If you google "Daigoro posted for gun-running", the posting shows up (posted in Feb 2005) but the japantoday article URL above no longer works.

So it appears that both Daigoro actors are now in Japanese prison. At least the movie Daigoro isn't a murderer.
