Production has begun in Dubai on the Chinese-Indian co-production Kung Fu Yoga. The film stars Jackie Chan, Aarif Rahman, and Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif. The film's director is Stanley Tong. This is the first time in a decade that Tong and Chan have worked on a film together (2005's The Myth was their last collaboration). Plot details are being kept under wraps, but filming will commence in Dubai until the end of October then move to India at a later date.

Jack (Jackie Chan), a renowned professor of archeology at the Terracotta Warriors Museum in Xi'an, teams up with beautiful Indian professor Ashmita and assistant Kyra to locate India's lost Magadha treasure in Tibet. Jack's assistants Xiaoguang (Lay Zhang of EXO) and Nuomin (Miya Muqi) accompany them. They are later joined by Jones Lee (Aarif Rahman), whose father was Jack's old friend. Using various new clues and GPS, the group locates the lost Magadha army that had escorted the treasure in ancient times, buried in an ice cave that has been hidden for centuries. They are suddenly ambushed by Randall (Sonu Sood), a descendant of a rebel army leader who claims a right to the royal treasure. During the scuffle, Jones snatches a large diamond from the cave and flees, leaving Jack and his team trapped inside the frozen cave. Using yoga breathing techniques, Jack and Ashmita escape the cave through an icy river, returning to free the others. Defeated, Ashmita and Kyra return to India; Jack, Xiaogang and Nuomin travel to Dubai where the diamond is being auctioned. Although Jack secures the diamond, it is snatched by Randall leading to a daring car chase in which Ashmita secures it on a passing motorbike and vanishes. Realizing that the professor is not who she claims to be, Jack, his team and Jones fly to India. Ashmita and Kyra are in fact sisters and descendants of Magadha royalty, who wish to restore their family name. Jack agrees to help them again. When Jones and Kyra are kidnapped, Jack and Ashmita travel to the Sacred Mountain to unlock the treasure...

I heard Tiger Shroff (son of BROTHERS actor Jackie Shroff) is in this and I think he could make a good fighting villain due to his background in martial arts and gymnastics.

With Railroad Tigers almost done, Jackie will be heading to India sometime next month to wrap up Kung Fu Yoga

I wonder if they will have someone of this mans talent. Not much is known about the actor:

I'll always respect Jackie, but this looks pretty bad. Too much CGI and undercranked fights... probably a smart business decision to incorporate Bollywood stars and it will definitely make money, but I'll most likely skip it.

In one sequence Chan's character is dressed like Rocky, when he's training in Russia to beat Ivan Drago. Complete with the flat cap look too.

Looks like a fun film, no longer expecting him to jump and fall like he's a young man anymore. Recently got round to watching Chinese Zodiac, and while its by no means his strongest effort. I feel it got a lot more hate than it really deserved. The movie captured the spirit of his classic movies, more than any of his other post 2000 productions.

Surprised that Well Go is giving this a US theatrical release. This looks like one big turd. Fans will be able to look back and declare Chinese Zodiac a Chan classic at this point. Hell, I am still trying to make my way through Skiptrace. But, Kung Fu Yoga looks to be another take on Operation Condor. Maybe it really is better than the trailer. But, that trailer stinks! All the trailers for KFY look really really bad! I`ve said it before, but, Jackie just needs to retire and perhaps spend his time remastering his true classics to make sure those are preserved for the future. Not sure that we need a true HD version of KFY while we still wait for Project A, Police Story and others to get the respect that they deserve. Such a shame!

Hm. Fights look OK. Comedy is awful. I'll still watch of course, but I think I'm looking forward to Skiptrace more, if only for some brainless fun.

This was bad, I rate is as the worst movie of Chan's career. Stanley Tong has essentially tried to make a 32 year old Jackie Chan movie with a 62 year old Jackie Chan, & it just doesn't work. Check out my review here -

Great review of what I expected  to be a bad film,I will still watch because to me he has given me some great memories but god he needs to stop making this kind of crap.I know age has taken its toll on his body but surely even he can see these kind of movies are tarnishing his legacy.Get behind the camera with the odd cameo and show some of these so called directors how to make a great Kung fu movie.

This is the review that I was dreading to read but was 100% expecting. The trailer looked horrible. I have not really liked anything that Jackie has done in a while but I still get around to watching them anyways, at some point. Stanley Tong was always a weak director in my opinion. The only movies he made, that I liked, were Police Story III: Super Cop and JC`s First Strike. And, even that was a little weak compared to the first two installments.

I`m not so sure that he has it in him anymore. Though, I would certainly be down for another movie with Jackie, Sammo and Yuen Biao. Maybe they could get together and do something like The Gallants (2010).

I still want to see this, Jackie has given me a lot of enjoyment as well, and I can think of a lot of worse ways to kill an hour and a half.

Jackie needs to get back to a more serious role IMHO. "Shinjuku Incident" for me is a prime example the man is a great actor and can deliver much more than Kung Fu comedy. Or maybe he could simply focus more on work behind the camera while promoting new talent which I think Hong Kong cinema desperately needs. Cause let's face it the Stars of yesterday won't stay around forever.

Think I'll skip this one and try to catch "Railroad Tigers" instead. @OAB thanks for another great review!

I agree he doesn't have it in him anymore but he could definitely be able to direct and choreograph  his own Kung fu movie and without the pressure of being the star he would be able to craft a proper fu film with no wire crap and no injurys for himself

Finally saw this. Sorry, but this is in no way Jackie's worst movie. Sure the CGI animals are bad and there's too much wirework, but it was a fun throwback to Armor of God. In fact this would fit in as a sequel in that series. They could have taken a bit more time and came up with an actual ending though.

Plus the two Indian girls are pretty hot so there's that haha.

Okay, it's better than "1911". Or at least it's more entertaining.

Watched this today on Netflix.  Not the train wreck it was made out to be, but it has the same problems that many of Chan’s Chinese films seem to have lately: flatly delivered, terribly written expositional (or preachy) dialogue that kills every scene.  It reminded me of Chinese Zodiac in this regard, but KFY has a better balance of (small) action scenes sprinkled throughout.  Also, the non action scenes have a bit more energy to them than CZ.  I don’t know...overall I thought it was okay.  There were some fun moments.

True. KFY lacks the one great fight scene CZ12 has to offer, though.

I watched this last night, and I'm not sure if it was all just a bad CGI dream?. What was the whole idea behind the Little Jackie CGI lion sequence?. The story was perfect for a really good Martial Arts adventure film, but it misses the mark. The first Stanley Tong/Jackie Chan movie I watched was Rumble in The Bronx(1994). Which really sparked my appetite for Hong Kong action cinema. Sadly there was none of the same magic on display here. This must have had enough fans, there are still plans for a sequel.

Sonu Sood met Jackie Chan in Dubai recently. The Kung Fu Yoga actors reminisced about the shooting days and discussed the second part.
