The first movie I saw her in was The 12 gold medallions in a cinema when I was 14 years old and I was impressed by her performance in this movie and later, when I found a VHS of it, I bought it at once ! She was very touching in The rainbow and in Swan song. Another Shaws' great actress who left us...
Member whitesnake Posted June 9, 2018 Member Share Posted June 9, 2018 Update on Kara Hui (Kara Wai on IMDB) - IMDB has her listed in two movies for 2018. Tracy is a 2018 Hong Kong movie, but there is little about it on IMDB except the cast list: Kara Hui, Philip Keung (who has been in lots of movies since 1993), Aaron Chow, Siu Hin Ng, and Jennifer Yu. Blinding Souls (Hong Kong movie released in 2018) is a horror movie set on a university campus, where the Japanese did "cruel human experiments" during WW II. More recently some girls have disappeared mysteriously, and human bones have been dug up from under a century-old tree. Winter is Hope, in which Kara Hui plays a mother, is an undated movie still listed as being in post-production, though a trailer for the Cannes Film Festival was released in 2013. Here's a movie being filmed in 2018. "Shaw Yue, Kara Hui, Jess Li & Tu Men will star in Henry Wong's fantasy adventure MR. MONSTER, shooting this summer [2018] and produced by Derek Kwok." News for June 7, on https://twitter.com/AsianFilmStrike, with four b&w images, including one with Kara Hui.
Member whitesnake Posted June 12, 2018 Member Share Posted June 12, 2018 (edited) Additional movies for Kara Hui movies in 2018. She is in "Anthony Chan's music drama, House of the Rising Sons" [aka Xiong Di Ban], about young men who'd rather play their music than work in construction or sell barbecue pork or anything else. The movie has its world premiere at the 2018 NYAFF. Its Hong Kong release date is July 20th. Cast also includes Simon Yam, Kenny Bee, Alan Tam, Elaine Jin, Liu Kai Chi and Carlos Chan. Posted on June 12 at https://twitter.com/AsianFilmStrike House of the Rising Sons trailer - According to chinesemov.com, Kara Hui is also in two other movies set for release in 2018 - the Hong Kong family drama, A Life of Papers (Zhi Pi Po Po), and a Chinese mystery thriller, Catching Crazy (Zhua Kuang) directed by Zhou Zhenrong. The cast of Catching Crazy also includes Zhou Xianxin, who has been in quite a few TV series. Kara Hui's older brother, Austin Wai Tin Chi, appeared in several Shaw Brothers movies, including Five Super Fighters and Killer Constable. He died in October 2012 in Beijing at the age of 55. He had been suffering from health problems.
