Great movie, not your typical 60's ninja movie as it doesn't revolve (directly)around an assassination of a historical figure, it's also more romantic, that certainly doesn't take away from the fight scenes which are superb.

Hashizo Okawa doesn't have the grit of Raizo but his boyish demeanor serves the character well, Otomo and Konoe gives this movie major weight. The opening scene leading to the conception of the protagonist is questionably a rape scene unless you can believe two enemy ninja can be "so turned-on by each other’s shinobi sex appeal" as quoted by vintage ninja, it is funny though as Konoe seems to be just as distraught as the female ninja that it's about to happen.

I'll have to give this one a rewatch soon.
