When I started watching these movies, he was a good guy in many films, but then he aged out. That seems to be a frequent thing in HK cinema, where you get old and become a bad guy. Many of these films were aimed at the youth market, so it makes sense. If you look at his filmography, at least 30 or 40 good guy roles, then, bang! White wig and a sneer. All at about 31 or 32 years old. Same thing with Chen Kuan Tai.

More than that. Lots of gangster and gambler roles as he got older. He was the bad guy in the Imposter as well.

Ditto, you move on to play the older villians or teacher/master's.

Were the only youngr villian roles, useally that of the a villians son or lackey's/hired help?.

It would have been cool to see him in a movie with Lee Hoi-Sang. They both could play goofy villains so well.
