How's Sonny Chiba's The Executioner?

Much as I love THE EXECUTIONER, I recommend you not bother with the sequel. It is one of the worst films ever.

the sequel is that bad, dion? whats wrong with it? thats disappointing...i was a big fan of the first.

There's no action or fighting until the finale. The rest of the film is padded with comedy that isn't as amusing as the first movie. Getting a copy of the sequel and seeing how bad it was is one of the biggest disappointments in my old tape collecting days. Oddly, I think the sequel was released in Hong Kong under a name like "Dirty Hero."

According to Patrick Macias' book, Teruo Ishii hated karate and hated the first movie so he intentionally made a goofy comedy when he made the sequel. Ironically the sequel was a bigger hit than THE EXECUTIONER.
