Member AlexanderFu Posted October 23, 2012 Member Share Posted October 23, 2012 Since this is the week of my 2 year long mission of steady Shaw Brothers movie watching, I want to make a thread of the new stuff I'll see from here on & make a list of the ones I rewatch - basically for the 1st time since seeing, with exceptions for the movies that are on a practical loop! I'm glad to be able to keep the DVD 5 & 9's on a hard drive....< 42" LCD Sharp monitor....w/ Windows Media Classic. Works for me! I saw a few Gambling movies for the 1st time this week - 'King Gambler', with Chung Wa and a large cast of the usual great Shaw actors. 'The Casino', with Yueh Hua 'Challenge of the Gamesters', With Patrick Tse's father - right? - Good silly movie (He has an awesome card deck that is practically a gun!) I also saw 'To Kill a Jaguar' with Chung Wa again - I thought he was great in 'Killer Clans'. ...2 of my favoite roles are Lin Yung in 'Killer Clans' & 'Death Duel' -where he played both those fatalistic roles perfectly & is great with Ti Lung in these next two movies as well!!! (Legend of Bat Island/Clans of Intrigue) No one wears the black clothes & head covering like Lin Yung!!! Coolest look in the Jiang Hu!!!! I also saw Tiger Killer without falling asleep, but I'll need to watch 'The Casino' again. Fell asleep on that one! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Just glad to have the time to watch & not gotten bored. I needto pick somethin for today/tonight. 'The Lady Hermit' or a retr of 'THe Deadly Duo' or 'The Heroic Ones' Thes old one are almost all that is left & I am determined to give them the best shot! Maybe some Lo Lieh movie - I also saw 'Temple of the Red Lotus' the other night & could watch the sequel 'The Twin Swords'' (?), then 'Demon of the Lute' Still have great stuff ahead - so glad for that!!!! I was going down the movie list on my Shaw Drive & a saw this 'Family' movie & I wanted to take a look at it, and had to watch it all (1:08:33 0f 1:32:16) Take a guess if anyone comes by, or I will be back after I finish - great movie!!!! I was going down the movie list on my Shaw Drive & a saw this 'Family' movie & I wanted to take a look at it, and had to watch it all (1:08:33 0f 1:32:16) Take a guess if anyone comes by, or I will be back after I finish - great movie!!!! "Family Light Affair' was the movie - 1st time saw it Wonderful move about a young couple & 2 young daughters trying survive in Hong Kong after arriving from the Mainland. Member AlexanderFu Posted October 25, 2012 Author Member Share Posted October 25, 2012 Ling Yun is one of my favorite Shaw actors for his roles in Death Duel & Killer Clans as well as with Ti Lung & Lau Wing in the Chor Yuen movies - Legend of the Bat, Clans of Intrigue & Clans of Amazons, no? Anyway - I might watch 'The Gun Brothers' tonight - anyone seen it? I have a few other chloices - 'The 6 Assassins', 'The Four Riders', 'The Iron Buddha', or Either 'Heroes of the Underground', Heroes of Sung', or 'Anonymous Heroes'. 'Anonymous Heroes' is English Dub, 'Four Riders' as well.... 'Lady Professional' & 'Trail of the Broken Blade' are dub considerations as well for 1st time viewing. I prefer dubs if only for the convienance of not having to read. The original languages sound so much more natural and pleasing, but I am so grateful for any dub & will watch both if I can. I know I'm kind of late. I saw Gamblers Delight, Lady Hermit (2nd attempt) and 'The Emperor & the Beauty'. The series is really good for Lau Wing fans - He does the character proud. Member the sentimental swordsman Posted May 25, 2013 Member Share Posted May 25, 2013 In the kind of gambling, try the little "Notorious eight" with Tony Liu and Lo Lieh. Well as you love legend of the bat and clans of intrigue, you should try them on "perils of the sentimental swordsman" , but Ling Yun (red point) does not appear in the sequel.
