Guest shaolindogpaw
I love Zatoichi but hated the 2003 Zatoichi, Mr. Katsu actually turned in his grave when it was released. The movie just didnt do justice to the vision (no pun intended) that Katsu built over the many years he played his beloved character Zatoichi. anyways the best ever besides Kurosawa and Shintaro: 1. The Mute Samurai Series ( ten movies ) Could Portrait of Hell be considered a samurai movie? if it is then i vote for that.
Guest Tosh
Eh, the 2003 Zatoichi was alright, it was a little cgi heavy and I could of did without the 10 minute little boy dressed like a girl dance scene in there, aren't they making another one of these now? Guest shaolindogpaw
ive heard rumors that there will be another made, think i read it in a site or in kung fu magazine. but its like the 1st crow movie with Brandom lee in the role it was an awesome movie... the second one would have been good if there was never a 1st crow with Brandon lee. so, IMO, when an actor/actress fits the part so perfectly with great aptitude to playing that part (which is rare) there should never be any variations without that actor/actress in that role because it almost cheapens the memory. A good example is the upcomming new version of the Venoms film. And i beleive thats why there hasnt been a full fledged re-make of 7 Samurai... every actor fit the part perfectly. Guest Yi Long
How about the great old classic TV series Shogun!? Anyway, I havent seen enough samurai movies yet to be able to compile a top 10 yet... I saw Zatoichi and the firefestival lastw eekend, which was pretty enjoyable though, and next weekend there's another Zatoichi movie showing on local TV, so should be cool as well... I've seen the first 2 Lone Wolf movies, of which I liked the first very much, and thought the 2nd was OK. Saw Lady Snowblood, which was also OK but not great.
