Guest Daisho2004 Posted April 5, 2007 Share Posted April 5, 2007 This movie will be released on DVD on 5/15/07' Based on police records and a prize-winning book by Ryuzo Saki, VENGEANCE IS MINE chronicles the terrifying crime spree of Iwao Enokizu (Ken Ogata), a hollow man with no kokoro, which means either "self" or "heart" in Japanese. A dissatisfied public relations employee, Enokizu kills several people for no good reason and manages to evade the police, even though his face is plastered like a celebrity's image across the country. But the film is also about his father and his wife, who have a secret of their own and try to live with the knowledge of the terrible deeds Enokizu has committed. Guest Stuntman Jules Posted May 1, 2007 Share Posted May 1, 2007 Superb movie. One of the very finest Japanese films ever made, Shohei Imamura's best and Ken Ogata's finest role. I'm not sure if I should get the Criterion, that said, as I already own the UK R2 Masters of Cinema edition, but still, at least I can play the Criterion on regular R1 DVD players.
