I'll just remark that 1) he got very little in the way of leverage from that sitting posture (called seiza n Japanese), which, BTW, is seldom used for breaking demos, 2) his knifehand strike looked to be off in precise technical form, and last, 3) at least he knew he could not accomplish the break and so respectfully backed off and bowed.
