Member MG Lerox Posted January 21, 2011 Member Share Posted January 21, 2011 It would be pretty hard choice, but i think that this list would be for me: Tower of Death Bruce Lee A True Story (The Man, The Myth) Bruce & Shaolin Kung Fu Cold Blooded Murder Dragon On Fire Fist of Fury 2 Fist of Fury 3 Secret Ninja, Roaring Tiger Bruce & Jackie to the Rescue Bruce Lee A Dragon Story (I know this movie is bad, but it is one of the very first Li films that i saw on TV so it has special place in my heart.) Member drees5761 Posted January 21, 2011 Member Share Posted January 21, 2011 I tend to hate the Bruce lookalike films, but the ones i can watch again are: Enter The Fat Dragon: Sammo does the best Bruce! Skinny Tiger Fatty Dragon : As above. Man and Myth : Ng See Yuen tried to make a film with some respect shown to Bruce and his life. Fist Of Fury 2 : Some ok fights make it tolerable. Dragon Lives Again: Its so bad and so far out you just have to see this!!
Member Michael L. Posted January 22, 2011 Member Share Posted January 22, 2011 Based on names only, you have to go with: They Call Me Bruce Clones of Bruce Lee Bruce Lee Fights Back From The Grave Bruce Lee Vs. Gay Power (wtf?) Enter The Game Of Death My personal favorite clones movie, though, is Exit the Dragon, Enter the Tiger with Bruce Li. There is a clones of Bruce Lee website at http://www.clonesofbrucelee.co.uk that you should check out if you haven't already.

Member Jadedragon61 Posted January 23, 2011 Member Share Posted January 23, 2011 When I sat here and thought about it, I found that there really aren't too many of these films that I like - but there are a limited few that I REALLY like. But first, what the hell actually qualifies for Bruceploitation? To me, it has to have three things: 1) a Bruce-imitator as the protagonist, 2) a plot-line that can't be separated from Bruce, and 3) takes itself seriously (well...within the confines of normal Fu film insanity, that is). On this definition, "Death of Bruce Lee" (AKA Black Dragon's Revenge), one of my favorite films, is not Bruceploitation, as the plot could concern anyone's death that RVC investigates. Further, Enter Fat isn't either, as it always seemed to me that Sammo was taking a poke at the whole stupid Bruceploitation sub-genre. "Bruce Lee Fights Back from the Grave" isn't either, as only the title fits the bill (!), and the plot has nothing to do with Bruceploitation (the original Korean title was "Visitors to America"). Anyway, here's my list of five. BL Man the Myth Exit the Dragon Enter the Tiger New Game of Death (AKA Goodbye, Bruce Lee: His Last Game of Death) Bruce Lee A Dragon Story (only because it includes Carter Wong and Jang Lee Hwang ) Clones of BL (because it soooo fucking stupid it's good) (BTW, I am the only one who finds it ironic that all of the above is written by a guy who's avatar is Bruce Li? In effect, I am impersonating and impersonator... )
SMK
As I was on walking on the treadmill earlier today, I just so happened to watch "Bruce Lee Fights Back From the Grave". I have only watched 40 minutes so far, as I only walked 2 miles, I will finish it up tomorrow and let you guys know my overall thoughts on this film. The 1 positive about the movie so far, is the English dubbing features some very recognizable voices, the 1 negative, is definitely the acting. SMK
Bruce Lee Fights Back From the Grave was terrible movie, it has no plot or anything else, both acting and fights are bad, but at last that actress that played Bruce's girl later went to Hollywood! I just finished watching this movie yesterday. As I stated in a previous post, the worst part of the movie was the acting, the best part was the familiar voices in the English dubbing. The second worst part was definitely the fighting. Although, the best actual moves in the movie were actually slowed in slow motion, which was cool. The movie did have a plot, somewhat, as it was revealed in the end. The whole movie had to do with DRUGS and Money!! Definitely not a TRUE Bruceploitation movie, as it had absolutely NOTHING to do with Bruce Lee. Even though the alternate title suggest it has to do with Bruce, and the movie uses a opening of a Bruce Lee look-a-like jumping out of his grave, with a tombstone stating "Bruce Lee 1940-1973". I would rate this film a 2/

To tell you the truth however, I doubt even Bruce Li himself could give us the correct filmography.
Member MG Lerox Posted January 27, 2011 Member Share Posted January 27, 2011 Your right he was stuntman in many Taiwanese films, but also he made whole bunch of films with similar names so yes, it would be hard job even for him.
Member Michael L. Posted January 29, 2011 Member Share Posted January 29, 2011 Whoa, whoa, wait a minute. To me, things like Bruce Lee Fights Back From The Grave and Image of Bruce Lee are the worst kind of Bruceploitation because they have nothing to do with Bruce (in image of Bruce Lee someone literally says to the main character, who does wear a yellow track suit at one point, "Hey, you look like Bruce Lee!" and that is it) but throw his name in the title to try to get a little extra interest without even doing the work of making a half assed Bruce Lee tribute of some sort. In a separate note (in a story that I am sure will get retold on the podcast in the future), do you know why I love Exit the Dragon, Enter the Tiger? There's a rape scene in it where the bad guys rip off the leading ladies shirt to reveal her breasts. This wasn't entirely unheard of in HK cinema of the '70s (heck, two of the three real Hong Kong Bruce films have topless scenes and the other has stripper's butt) but it was entirely unheard of to be left in the movie when shown on Saturday afternoon television in St. Louis when I was in the fifth grade. It happened to be a rainy day, so many of us were inside watching TV... HUGE topic of conversation on Monday, as you may imagine. Three months later, in the most anticipated television event in local television history, the same channel was showing it again on a Saturday afternoon.... everyone (okay, every boy) I knew was glued to the TV that day. Believe it or not, it slipped the censors for an unprecedented SECOND TIME! Greatest movie ever.
Member Omni Dragon Posted January 31, 2011 Author Member Share Posted January 31, 2011 Interesting views Michael so you prefer the ones where their really trying to be Bruce Lee? Some people think there the worst kind of 'Bruceploitation' & most rip off, they prefer it as sort of not watching it as a Bruce Lee film.

Member Michael L. Posted February 1, 2011 Member Share Posted February 1, 2011 When I say "worst kind" I mean the worst kind of exploitation. They may be better movies (and, in fact, have the advantage that they aren't hampered with the need to imitate Bruce Lee) and they may be really bad and need that Bruce Lee boost! Whenever I would watch any movie in that genre, I don't ever get bored and I usually have a great freaking time, my brain is completely shut off.. Compared that to a Shaw Bros. Masterpiece where I'm required to turn on my brain and follow the complexity and layers of each plot point and the scenes... It's six flags vs Shakespearian theater..... If you want my opinion on truly offensive Bruce-rip offs, there are only two that really made me sick: 1. Fist of Fear, Touch of Death 2. Bruce Lee:His Last Days and Nights (Betty Ting Pei flick) Araon Banks should be arrested ( see , for a disgusting example), and BTP should be completely ashamed of herself. Whatever - as Peter Urban remarked, "Human reliability is 15%" Or as BL said, "Keep punching!"
