Guest GwaiLoMoFo
New big budget Japanese fantasy/samurai/horror/sci-fi flick based on a popular manga (?) , video game, and anime. Its has recently been released on DVD, unfortunatley without any English subs >: . Hopefully a HK disc with English subs will surface soon. So we dont have to wait 3 years for Media Blasters to release a legit version. I dont know much about it, except the trailer looks pretty damn good. The action is said to be directed by Ching Siu Tung! Anybody seen it, or heard anything about it?
Guest ToothbrushFu
The North American rights to Dororo got picked up by Universal. It was a big hit in Japan and apparently they're planning on turning it into a trilogy.
Guest jmungus
movie is basically s/t like: moon over tao + sword in the moon + legend of the 8 samurai conceptually and structure wise, its kinda close to the star wars saga lead actor totally flashes 'young ti lung' looks and mannerisms. lead actress puts on a 'quirky, sassy, head strong cecilia cheung' type show. the two of em battle demons, some of which look cool, others just boring and reeeally campy/cheap (guys in body suits and lousy make up). pretty good escapism on a scale that is as epic as its trashy. a project too ambitious for them to master. last words: apparently the japanese wanna build a reputation of hard suckage when it comes to cgi fx. :b
Guest kung fu 750
I saw this the other day It was good, it was fun for a live action anime. There were a few things that i just didn't get though. Lots of action, CG, Samurai stuff. Ron from Kansas
