I won't be able to attend this exhibit tomorrow because I'm going to be busy, but thanks anyway. I hope you enjoy it if you end up going. Sounds really cool.

Oh. Well, it's a good thing that I know how to read. Thanks, Bob!

If it's in June, then there's definitely a good chance that I can go.

Of course. I'll try to take some pictures and make a blog post on Hapa Hero. An exhibit like this definitely gets my interest. :nerd:

EDIT:

Slight change of plans. I'll be writing a post for SC36!

There could be a chance of an Opening Reception also. If so, then clips of Shaw Bros movies would probably be shown there, during a reception:

Looks like they've moved out the event one week later - June 27. Mark your calendars!

I'm proud to be a part of this show, and some of my Shaw Brothers originals will be on display and for sale. Please spread the word, and lets support all the artists in the show! Thank you. Wish I was able to be there in person to check out the work of the other artists. Hopefully someone will post photos. I can't wait to see what everyone has created. :nerd:

BROS VS BROS - Mushroom Kingdom (Super Mario Bros.) & Shaw Brothers Cinema Tribute Art Show

https://www.facebook.com/events/709416125851093/

Where:

Q2 mini Gallery

312 Little Tokyo Mall Ste# 121

Los Angeles, California

When:

The show runs from June 27- July 12, 2015.

I was hella nervous packing up five of my original Shaw Brothers drawings to ship across the country. Would they be lost? Damaged? :squigglemouth:

When I was preparing my originals for safe shipping... putting an X of artist's tape across the glass, so that if it breaks in shipping the pieces don't slide around and slice/damage the drawing.

p><p> <img src=

TAKING NO CHANCES Pt. 1! LOL :xd: I used "Shaolin Packing Style" to try to keep them safe.

I hope some of you will be able to attend.

I was right. Shaw Bros movie clips/trailers will be shown, just like how movie/TV clips were shown during Q Pop's past artwork exhibit receptions of James Bond movies and Tokusatsu(e.g. Godzilla, Ultraman, etc.):

I'm glad I was able to tell you all about this Shaw Bros event.

Also, and sorry to go a bit off-topic, but some of you kung fu movie fans may want to go to L.A. Chinatown's "Chinatown Summer Nights" event before or after going to the Shaw Bros reception. It's likely that a Bruce Lee movie, or "Ip Man", or other HK kung fu movie will be projected onto a bldg wall as usual.

The Wing Chun wooden dummy is also probably going to be available to use at the Chinatown event again. Here's more info: http://chinatownla.com/calendar.php?eventId=424

Awesome! I wonder what they're going to show. Maybe some SB films that haven't been released in the US. I'm sure Chinatown has a few IVL DVD imports. I'll probably buy some while I'm there.

KUNG FU BOB

I was privy to see a lot of the artwork early, and there's some beautiful work. Two pieces particular blew me away- a Gordon Liu portrait by INFINITE KUNG FU comic artist Kagan McLeod, and a BOXER'S OMEN piece by an artist named Magen Michell that's outta sight!

Off topic? Sounds like you just added a whole lotta awesome to it. I don't think I've heard about that before.

So just anybody can go up to the wooden dummy and show off their skills? Did you see anyone doing it before? Any impressive displays?

We'd love to see photos of that as well.

Sweet, I thought I missed this event!! Even get to see some of KungFu Bobs work!!

Hahaha... I hope they don't disappoint you in person. Now I'm feeling the pressure... :crossedlips:

By the way, our KFC brother KenHashibe will be doing coverage of this event for ShaolinChamber36.com, so we'll be sure to link you to the post as soon as it's up. Thanks Ken!

I've actually heard of McLoed before from Infinite Kung Fu and because he made some cool artwork for Bastard Swordsman! I'm looking forward to seeing the works you've mentioned.

If I attend the Chinatown Summer Nights, I'll definitely take some pictures.

No problem. It's my pleasure! I'll try my best to take a lot of pictures and write an in-depth post. I'll hopefully get to interview the hosts, artists, and other attendants.

I attended the Chinatown Summer Nights. Ang Lee's "The Wedding Banquet" and also "Ip Man" were projected on the building wall, after the sun went down.

I didn't take any pictures, but my friend shot a video of me from Chinatown Summer Nights, next to the Bruce Lee statue. The video is 52.1MB, so do any of you know if I can somehow post that video onto this forum?

You're welcome, Bob. I liked your Shaw Bros artwork at the reception. Your artwork looked very bright and colorful, and it definitely didn't disappoint. Shaw Bros event turned out to be just ok, though. Clips/trailers weren't shown, but "Martial Club" was shown instead. I don't know why the clips couldn't be projected there, even though scenes from James Bond movies and Tokusatsu movies/TV("Godzilla", "Ultraman", etc.) were shown at the Bond and Tokusatsu events in the past.

Some photos from the event are below.

Yes, anybody can use that wooden dummy. I did see some people using it before, and a few people were pretty good. I tried to use it before, especially based on Jackie Chan's scene in "Rumble in the Bronx", but I wasn't that good with it.

Overall, I had a fun and exciting night. Thank you, Ken, for coming to the Shaw event. Also thank you, Bob, for having your very good paintings on display there. I just hope I can somehow post my video on this forum.

Nice rundown! It was a very fun night. My post for SC36 should be completed soon.

To post a video on the forum, I think you'd have to upload it to YouTube first, then post the link. That's the only way that I know of, but maybe you could ask a moderator.

I almost was going to record myself mimicking Jackie Chan from the beginning of Wheels on Meals.
