Member GOLDEN DRAGON YIN-YANG Posted April 24, 2015 Member Share Posted April 24, 2015 We Were Solders. Mel Gibson certainly knows how to make GREAT movies. This one is no exception. This movie tells the true story of the USA's first battle with Viet Cong in 1965. It was a total disaster for the American's who fell into a trap and were out numbered and almost destroyed by the Viet Cong. It can not look anymore REAL than this. It sure brings home the old axiom that: "War is Hell." If you want to see a fantastic WAR movie this is for you. GD Y-Y
Member Drunken Monk Posted April 24, 2015 Member Share Posted April 24, 2015 Mel Gibson didn't make this. Randall Wallace was the director. I actually never got around to watching it as I always felt it fell into that group of war films that were universally panned: "Tears of the sun," "Windtalkers" etc. I do love a good war film though, so maybe I'll give this one a go after all.
