Production was delayed when Johnny Depp injured his hand in an apparent freak go-cart accident in New Zealand and flew back to the U.S. to get surgery. However, he's back in NZ and production has started again. Orlando Bloom will be returning for this installment as Will Turner while Javier Bardem will play the film's main antagonist, Captain Salazar. British actress Kaya Scodelario will play the main female role this time around. Of course, Geoffrey Rush will return as Captain Barbossa. Danish duo Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg are directing this installment with Jeff Nathanson (the Rush Hour sequels)'s screenplay. The film is expected to be out in July 2017 from Disney.
