As Amazon and some other online retailers sometimes omit or give incorrect info about dvd specs, how many Celestial Pictures Shaw Brothers titles released by the following DVD/BD Labels actually have an optional English dub.

Siren Visual Entertainment

Dragon Dynasty

Well Go

Tokyo Shock

Media Blasters

Image Entertainment

Funimation.......etc

If there has been an existing thread on this topic I might not have noticed please add the link and if there are any other Video Labels I haven't mentioned please feel free to add as well.Thanks.

I have all the R1 Shaw releases (I also have a thread here on that topic of R1 releases). I'll go through all of them slowly and keep a list of English dubs. However, I will not be able to tell original from new dubs right now (also some of them state Mono when they are technically not.)

Thanks masterofoneinchpunch just any dub is fine but if you would like to go the extra mile distinguishing original from new dubs then that is most welcome.Sound format is also not that crucial but then again if you want to highlight that aspect then its OK.

Don't forget the new 36th Chamber of Shaolin blu-ray trilogy box set that was just released from Celestial/IVL. It contains an English dub for all 3 movies.

Those aren't all the Siren releases on that page. I'll go through the ones I own when I get time and see which have dubs.

All of the Dragon Dynasty Shaws have the old dubs. Except for Come Drink With Me -they created a new dub since I don't think a classic dub exists.

In my opinion, the worst voice actors ever! They also do

Soul of the Sword

Bastard Swordsman

Return Bastard Swordsman

The above 3 are Funimation release.

Nah, the wost dubbers are those on Return of the One Armed Swordsman (also behind titles like Shaolin Tiger Claw and Rage of the Master).

Yeah there should probably be a footnote by ROTOAS- classic oldschool dub, but a bad one.

I don't know, man. I don't mind that one. When the dub comes around for Raw Courage, it ill be the same team. Didn't mind them.

could not stand the Bastard swordsman dub team though.

Couldn't stand the main guy, girl & the fake drama!

yes--- I must say that the dub for RETURN OF THE ONE ARMED SWORDSMAN was awful. they had their regular voice team at that time so I don't know why they would have used this bunch.

As bad as ROTOAS is, I'll gladly take it over any of the new dubs like Bastard Swordsman. Those new dubs are even worse than the Fortune Star dubs.

I put as much information as I could on the Shaw Brothers R1 releases here including all the English dubs (I differ between mono/stereo and 5.1 as well, not sure if there was any new dubs in mono/stereo but if there isn't than that question is answered.)

This is great invaluable work and thanks for all the effort put into creating it.If it could be expanded to worldwide releases that would be super fantastic :yociexp108:

Unfortunately I own all but 2 (and a couple of the BD) of the R1 releases, but I do not have any non R1 or R3 IVL releases of Shaw Brothers (not counting co-productions which I own a few of.)

But if I can get further data on the R1s for you feel free to ask.
