The film is financed by Legendary Pictures, Kava Productions, and Legendary East (Legendary Pictures' subsidiary based in China). Doug Miro, Carlo Bernard, Ed Zwick, Marshall Herskovitz, and Tony Gilroy wrote the script based on a story by (Legendary Pictures founder) Thomas Tull and Max Brooks. The cast: Matt Damon, Willem Dafoe, Andy Lau, Jing Tian, Zhang Hanyu, Eddie Peng, Lu Han, Lin Gengxin, Zheng Kai, Chen Xuedong, Huang Xuan and Wang Junkai. Following his usual brand of introducing newcomers, Zhang will introduce Yu Xintian and Liu Qiong in the film that’s set in 15th century China and revolves around an elite force of soldiers making a last stand for humanity against mythical creatures on the world’s most iconic structure.
