Member mpm74 Posted January 11, 2015 Member Share Posted January 11, 2015 Does anyone have any ads from the late 90s/early 2000s for some of the Hong Kong Legends and Eastern Heroes DVD titles? It's for a future feature. You'll receive full credit for your contributions (not that it will take you anywhere in life, but it's still nice, right?) IN fact, ANY type of late 90s/early 2000s DVD advertisements, etc. will do. Thanks in advance.
Member Cognoscente Posted July 28, 2022 Member Share Posted July 28, 2022 A trip down memory lane... I included the last image because I thought that it was strange for the Hong Kong Superstars magazine to choose a still which gives away some of the movie magic by letting people see the wire that pulls San Kuai.
Member PandaPawPaw Posted July 28, 2022 Member Share Posted July 28, 2022 WHAT!? They use wires! Say it isn't so! At least Easter Bunny is real. Phew.
Member Cognoscente Posted July 28, 2022 Member Share Posted July 28, 2022 It's common knowledge that they use wires, it's just that it takes you out of it when you see a still where a wire can be seen. It reminds me of what Wong Jing said about making Winner Takes All. They couldn't use stills of the jet pack moments because you could see the wires. 1

Brings back great memories, these adverts for HKL got me back into HK cinema after my interest waned in the mid 90s. I'd seen the Bruce and Jackie classics in the late 80s and then got a bit bored as the local video shops didn't seem to offer anything new beyond them but then HKL appeared releasing stuff i'd never seen as well as uncut better versions of films that I had and i've remained a fan ever since. I still have a soft spot for Hitman one of the first dvds I ever bought. Edited August 2, 2022 by andy338 2
