Member ThunderScore Posted January 9, 2015 Member Share Posted January 9, 2015 Just wondering if anyone here who is a fan of 80s and 90s Filipino Martial Arts/Action films is aware that Kinavesa/Silver Star director Teddy Page (Real Name Teddy Chiu), whose body of work includes FIREBACK (1983) and BLOOD DEBTS (1985) with Richard Harrison; ETERNAL FIST (1992) with Cynthia Khan and Dale Apollo Cook to name but a few, was also the associate director on BRUCE AND SHAOLIN BRONZEMEN and in the same film also portrayed this poor ice cream loving soul: Things appear pretty bleak until Bruce Le arrives to kick some ass (literally)... BRUCE AND SHAOLIN BRONZEMEN is just the gift that keeps on giving...
Member Secret Executioner Posted January 9, 2015 Member Share Posted January 9, 2015 Doesn't that movie also have Bruce Le fighting midgets ? Or is that in another of those whacky Filippino movies ?

Member DragonClaws Posted January 9, 2015 Member Share Posted January 9, 2015 Surely this film must have been re-titled to cash in on the other bronzemen films?. The bronzemen only appear in this film for about five minutes. I think the midgets might even have more screentime?. They should have called it Bruce & The Filipino Midgets. The version Ive seen was released as King Boxer 2, on an old budget U.K DVD label called Moonstone.
Member ThunderScore Posted January 9, 2015 Author Member Share Posted January 9, 2015 Surely this film must have been re-titled to cash in on the other bronzemen films?. To say that "Cashing In" is this film's Raison d'être would be a masterpiece of understatement. Let us not forget the retitling by EastWest DVD - ENTER THE GAME OF SHAOLIN BRONZEMEN. The KING BOXER 2 version I've seen has an Asso Asia (!) logo at the head (IIRC, the opening titles are wide). In addition to Mr. Le, BRUCE AND SHAOLIN BRONZEMEN also has Cheung Lik billed here as Chang Lee:
Member DragonClaws Posted January 9, 2015 Member Share Posted January 9, 2015 I always thought B&TSB was a well made classy production lol. Cheung Lik, the nunchaku master from Enter The Game Of Death a.k.a The Endless Fight. Do you know the original title for Bruce & The Shaolin Bronzemen ThunderScore?. Member Secret Executioner Posted January 9, 2015 Member Share Posted January 9, 2015 That guy doesn't even look like Bruce Le. What a ripoff !!
Member ThunderScore Posted January 9, 2015 Author Member Share Posted January 9, 2015 Comparing KING BOXER 2 and BRUCE AND SHAOLIN BRONZEMEN titles: Interestingly enough, Joseph Kong is credited (in the same font used on other Asso Asia credits) as Director of KING BOXER 2, while BRUCE AND SHAOLIN BRONZEMEN credits Joseph Velasco. Member Secret Executioner Posted January 9, 2015 Member Share Posted January 9, 2015 Boy, Asso Asia (and later Filmark) sure loved their fake credits with made-up names. (or Bruce Lambert and Joe Livingstone really existed... But where are they now, have they directed anything since the late 1980s ?!)
Member DragonClaws Posted January 10, 2015 Member Share Posted January 10, 2015 Thanks Thunderscore, some of these films can have more than just a couple of alternative titles sometimes.
