Member kaleyboy Posted January 11, 2015 Member Share Posted January 11, 2015 I don't speak Mandarin, but in the past I worked with a very skilled couple of Mandarin translators. It's not an easy language to translate, there are many different variations of Mandarin from different regions of China, plus it has lots of different accents, riddled with difficult to understand idioms that are totally alien to a non-native speaker. Member ShawAngela Posted January 11, 2015 Member Share Posted January 11, 2015 As Kaleyboy said, each Mandarin word can have 5 different meanings according to the tone it's pronounced, so, if you don't read the Chinese subtitles, you'll have difficulties to translate the text, and google translations are so nonsensic that I have given up using this tool to understand something, even when I'm looking for the translation of a title...
