Member Killer Meteor Posted January 5, 2015 Member Share Posted January 5, 2015 1) Why is Long Arm Devil's face hidden from view in One-Armed Swordsman, as though it was a surprise, when we don't otherwise see the character? I don't think the actor's pockmarks count as a disfigurement! 2) Why is most of the opening scene in Golden Swallow hidden behind a black screen with random bits cut out? Member David Rees Posted January 6, 2015 Member Share Posted January 6, 2015 I always wondered that with Golden Swallow myself, seems kind of odd....
Member KyFi Posted January 7, 2015 Member Share Posted January 7, 2015 I love that opening of Golden Swallow---artsy Chang Cheh. Vengeance had some of that same vibe, IMO. CC could have used more of that in his later works.
Member winehouse Posted January 8, 2015 Member Share Posted January 8, 2015 That was Chang Cheh's attempt at being artistic. Let's face it though, Chang Cheh is no King Hu. It just comes off as awkward and out of place. The Long Arm Devil thing: Keeps you watching to see who it is. Don't mind that choice.
