Dax Sheperd. Sheperd will be writing and directing the screen adaptation for Warner Brothers. In addition, he will be playing Jon Baker, the role originally played by Larry Wilcox. Rumors abounded when the movie was first announced that Wilmer Valderrama was going to play Ponch, the role that made Erik Estrada famous. However, Valderrama is NOT playing Ponch. Michael Pena has signed on to play that role. Sheperd plans to make this version in the vein of BAD BOYS and LETHAL WEAPON and with his background in race car and motorcycle riding, Sheperd may be doing most of his own stunts on this one.
