Member DrNgor Posted July 10, 2021 Member Share Posted July 10, 2021 The thread that detailed this information seems to have been lost, but how did the New Beverly Cinema get a hold of a 35 mm print of the film?
Member dionbrother Posted July 10, 2021 Member Share Posted July 10, 2021 Tarantino bought a print years ago. Probably from the back pages of The Big Reel.
Member Jesse Smooth Posted July 11, 2021 Member Share Posted July 11, 2021 David Walker of BadAzz MoFo would have certainly given this bad boy a greasy, dripping Jheri Curl. I nodded off on the theater a few times. The casino fight is the best part of the film. Dionbrother is right, the violence is quite tame.

Very rough VHS recording, but still great news nonetheless. https://archive.org/details/20220224_20220224_0603 4

Member Killer Meteor Posted March 7, 2022 Member Share Posted March 7, 2022 How random! The rest of their channel seems to be family home movies!
Member laagi Posted March 7, 2022 Member Share Posted March 7, 2022 Thanks for posting. I never understood why so many in the Kung Fu fandom had such a "hard-on" for this movie. Everything I've seen so far looks like total horseshit. But I guess by now it's more about the rareness rather than anything else. Or maybe that's just me.

It's of interest to me because it is a semi-legit sequel and marks Bruce Le's debut as a Bruce clone. But yeah, it looks lame!
Member Killer Meteor Posted October 4, 2022 Member Share Posted October 4, 2022 Some interesting info on Big Boss 2's belated HK release in this fascinating article - http://www.coolasscinema.com/2022/09/the-wild-wild-east-duel-of-independent.html Quote Released in Hong Kong in 1978, THE BIG BOSS PART II (1976) starring Lo Lieh, Chen Hui Min and Bruce Le was another in an assembly line of Bruce Lee clone movies that seldom made money in Hong Kong, but were made with the overseas markets in mind. This one played six days for a total of HK$82,661. While he's not credited on-screen, magazine sources list Lo Lieh co-directing with Chen Zhu (Chan Chue). Filmed in Thailand, the movie may have been a hit in that market as Wang Ping was essentially royalty there and was more popular in Japan than she was in Hong Kong.

Member Killer Meteor Posted June 10 Member Share Posted June 10 My review of BIG BOSS 2 - https://cityonfire.com/the-big-boss-part-ii-1976-review-bruce-le-lo-lieh-asian-martial-arts-bruceploitation-rare-severin-boxed-set/ 8 2
Member ShawAngela Posted June 12 Member Share Posted June 12 I just finished to watch it. Except for the non necessary love scene I loved it. Lo Lieh's performance is very good, here, and his fights were enjoyable. James Bond's music during the boat pursuit !! Ha, ha ! And Bruce Le's mimics, staying for several seconds with his mouth wide opened! All in all, it's an enjoyable movie and a good thing that it has finally been released for the fans! I laughed my ass off upon watching that unexpected scene. I knew my grandpa loved Category 3 films but I predicted this was gonna happen. I saw my first Cat 3 film at the sweet age of 12 when he rented 聊齋 on laserdisc and made me watch it with him. 🤣🤣🤣 Yes, I've been in talks with David Gregory. And I have received the Game of Clones box set. Saw the documentary yesterday and even notified Celina Jade this morning since her father Roy Horan is featured in the documentary. Sorry for the late reply. I mean, it's a really late reply. Two fricking years, lol! But I haven't been looking at any Asian movies forums for a long time since many of them have kinda vanished. I didn't even update my password until a few minutes ago. But I've been well aware this entire time.

Member Django Posted July 6 Member Share Posted July 6 Finally got to see this rare gem and I must say that I was entertained all the way to the end. Lo Lieh is always so fun to watch and Michael Wai Man's appearance towards the end elevated the action department nicely. Happy to have this in my collection! 3

Member Drunken Monk Posted July 10 Member Share Posted July 10 I found this one to be pretty middling. Lo Lieh just doesn't work as a hero for me. He's so dour faced and lacks the charisma needed to spice this one up. On top of that, he's a ropey kicker. It's not a terrible film but it's far from being one of the Bruceploitation greats. I'll probably have forgotten about it by the end of the month.
