Hey DonCollector, would you be willing to sell the print, in which case, how much ? If not, would you be willing to allow a copy to be made ? I want to get it and release it. Please talk to me and lets see if we can reach a deal....

Pardon me Don/Nahib, but this copyright thing is bollocks. If there was such a copyright it was probably just a theatrical deal for Africa for a film that is now 34 yrs old...that deal MUST have expired by now and the original company is probably defunct! Dvd/Video rights would not be a problem as they didn't exist then. In my opinion you could LOAN the print ( for a NICE FEE) to a company for a dvd release and still retain the print. If you are genuine mate, it's the thing to do and a win-win situation for us all!

DonCollector, welcome to the forum. Being new here you are probably not familiar with the passion many here have regarding lost/rare films and dangling a carrot, so to speak, is probably not the most prudent course of action.

If you indeed have a copy of this film, that is great.

If you do not wish to share this film, that is your business and none can say otherwise.

However, if you make such a bold statement and fail to show any proof, I'm afraid some will take your comments as a hoax.

So how can we avoid all this? Show proof.

Simply videotape a small portion of the film and then post it on YouTube. No copyright needed. Many "talk the talk" but very few "walk the walk." Prove to us that you can be the latter. Thank you.

You could stand to make some money on a telecined copy, Nahib. I think you will get a lot of offers if you hang around this forum. We are happy to have some of the international reel collectors with us!

Could you maybe give us a rundown on the collecting scene in Africa? I myself don't have much of an idea. Are there a few big players and, if so, what are the other rare titles that are circulating?

Don,it`s definitely big deal and as someone said you should put small sample into youtube.I have tried years to find it but failed of course.

I personally believe few lost or rare films are owned by some my contacts but they never talk about them because it would lead into obvious situation extremely demanding begging will start.

However as you mentioned you had it, let`s see a clip? Seeing is believing....

Here's a rare spread I got... (nope I don't have the movie)

Yep, that's the picture/collage I remember seeing with the "Tang Shan Da Xiong Xu Ji/Tong Saan Daai Hing Juk Jaap" Chinese title. I also just noticed in the lower right picture that it looks like the boss' mansion from the first film is behind them. Or at least a similar looking pattern in the wall

I saw this on ebay this afternoon. Please cut and paste the URL to see the item.

Peace!

That is either the Dragon Lee/Bolo Yeung film also known as "Chinese Goliath" (thanks to Eastern Heroes) or the Casanova Wong period film also known as "The Mighty Four". I don't think Big Boss Part II has ever been officially put on video... as far as we know... Believe it or not, there is a difference in titles: "Big Boss II" is either the Dragon Lee film (most likely) or the Casanova Wong film, while "The Big Boss PART II" is the Lo Lieh sequel.

Looks pretty cool, different to the proper Big Boss Part II.

Listed elsewhere:

(Big Boss 2 - Vipco (AKA Lone Shaolin Avenger / Bruce Against the Odds) 1982)

I think there are some people in the world of Kung Fu Fandom who would actually prefer to be buried with their film reels.

The production company went out of business over 30 years ago. No one on this planet gives a shit about the copyright of that film.

Hopefully, a print will surface. It seems as if The Big Boss part II also got a release in Thailand in 1978. This would be 2 years after the Hong Kong release.

Not much info here other than the Thai release date and a very small poster image(although it is quite different than the Hong Kong poster):

Well said! Massacre Survivor could be the start of a new trend... who knows what will surface when extra special fans decide to unite towards a common goal. There's probably never been an incentive for many 35mm collectors, like Toby and Zhunaid. Going forward, I think collectors will come to see the potential as being demonstrated with Massacre Survivor, which is a turning point in the rolling of reels. The commercial outlet approach has been tried, tested and failed. Kung is just too specialised, and like you say, nobody gives a shit about the copyright of any rare kf film.

I saw that Vipco tape way back in 1982! It IS the period film with Casanova, also got a theatrical release in the uk. No doubt Big Boss 2 was added for box office potential.

I'm surprised someone hasn't taken the youtube trailer of Big Boss 2 (Lo Lieh) and spliced its pieces in with some other kung fu movie, then sold it on ebay! =)

I'd be shocked if the members of this forum missed a DVD release - there's simply too much knowledge here to overlook anything like this
